I have added several hypertext links to candidates' previous candidatures. However an anonymous user keeps removing these links thereby reducing functionality. Why? Pat.moloney (talk) 01:26, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree that these links are justified. I believe you are inappropriately acting in a partisan way. I have added information relating to candidates who have served as councilors before and done so without partisan favor. 2A00:23C6:D529:4601:4561:7360:A1B4:AC9B (talk) 02:16, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have only added a few hypertext links so far, which are repeatedly deleted. I have added these links to previous years election results to make it easier for readers to trace candidates. This will be a massive task to complete and I would welcome collaboration. To remove these links repeatedly is vandalism. Nothing I have added is false. To accuse me of partisanship on such a small number of changes is wrong when clearly the task is incomplete. Can I suggest that in the interests of transparency thay you do not post anonymously. it is you who is instigating vandalism, these links are not features of any elections page, I will be removing them 2A00:23C6:D529:4601:4561:7360:A1B4:AC9B (talk) 14:15, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whay is adding functionality 'instigating vandalism'?
Hypertext links are used in many election results pages to link :
1 individual candidate's pages
2 political party pages
3 ward information pages
4 definitions of relevant terms
5 Relevant Acts of Parliament
5 Other relevant information
6 References
As hypertext links to previous election results add functionality by making it easier for users to follow the political careers of candidates, I contend that this functionality is worthwhile.
So why are you opposed to hypertext links to previous elections that candidates have stood? You have to date given no rational reason why they should be removed other than that 'these links are not features of any election page'.Examples can be found in :
1835 Liverpool Town Council election
2019 Liverpool City Council election
2021 Liverpool City Council election
and many other pages. Pat.moloney (talk) 14:35, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

councilors standing down

[edit]

how are we defining councilors who are standing down? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C6:D529:4601:A8AF:ABE7:EDD6:1519 (talk) 02:36, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is a very good question. Several councillors have announced that they are standing down and have subsequently become candidates in other wards. It can be assumed that they are 'paper' candidates, not expecting to win in the wards that they are standing. Pat.moloney (talk) 04:59, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
