This is what kind of league?

[edit]

Can someone tell me why I managed to read the entire bit above the cut of the page (for me on my 1280x1024 resolution screen) without finding out what games this thing was about? "Innings" and "home run" give some clues, but to my knowledge it could then still be any of baseball, softball or cricket (and nothing says that all the games were the same sport - the name of the competition would indicate to me some kind of general competition, in which multiple types of games would be played?) Of course, as soon as I opened the talk page, I realized that it was all about baseball, but it is rather silly that this is not laid out in the article. I came here from Apeldoorn, which just says "Apeldoorn advanced a team to the 2007 Little League World Series", leaving me equally clueless. It would be wonderful if the summary at the top was adjusted a bit, for those of us who are not brought up to assume that baseball is the most important of all international competitions, and that "world series" or "league" should automatically refer to that. Why no TOC?

[edit]

I'm just curious as to why there's a NOTOC sign at the top of the edit page. Can someone answer this for me?

And keep your eyes out for tributes to the Kirkland, WA team from 25 years ago: they'll probably have Cody Webster throw out the first pitch (he's still pretty well-known for his performance against Taiwan in '82) at some point in time.

Run Ratio Question

[edit]

The Venezuela-Taiwan game ended with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. Does this mean I should go 2 divided by 5 and 2/3, or 6? (Right now it's at 5 and 2/3, since 2/6 is easy to calculate.)

Asterisk

[edit]

Why is there an asterisk next to the "14:00" indicating the game time for the Caribbean vs. Canada game? Hallpriest9 (Talk | Archive) 05:48, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pitcher rest rule

[edit]
  • On the same subject it says that a pitcher is limited to 85 pitches, although I've noticed if they've reached that limit while pitching to a batter they can continue pitching to that batter until he has been resolved. Can someone state that in the Pitcher Rest Rule section. --Mjrmtg 15:33, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I made a change, stating that 85 pitches is the maximum allowed for one game, and the exception being if the pitcher reaches the limit in the middle of an at-bat, he may finish. Tampabay721 23:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good job - I just didn't know how to phrase it correctly. --Mjrmtg 23:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another change this year

[edit]

It's not a rule change, but the home run fence was moved back from 208' to 225'. --Mjrmtg 22:50, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They moved it back last year. Tampabay721 19:44, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA

[edit]

I am putting the GA nomination on hold. There are not enough references as well as bad references (reference #1 and 2). Please improve this article. I will come back and review again in no less than 7 days. Afterwards the nomination will be regarded as failed. OhanaUnitedTalk page 18:59, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article's nomination failed the GA standard. OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:17, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zane Ancell

[edit]

I think that it should be added in to the main page that Zane Ancell broke his ankel, while making a play at home plate when he was a pitching. If anyone hasn't seen it you should, because it's a true testament of what taking one for the team is. But, it was also an amazing play I believe it was against the team from Warner Roberts, GA. 75.100.69.47 (talk) 18:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and add it. --Mjrmtg (talk) 19:15, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
