"First 3-way battle since 1974"

[edit]

Quoted from Notes-section.

Weren't 1981 Caesar Palace Grand Prix a 3-way battle between C. Reutemann, N. Piquet and J. Laffite? With Reutemann 49pts, Piquet 48pts and Laffite 43pts. In my books a "3-way battle" in this context means that three drivers have still mathematical chances to become the respective season's World Champion when entering the last GP of season. I don't know how you Wikipedians interpret it, but as a lifetime F1 enthusiast I beg to differ to the article's claim about 1974. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.30.178.107 (talk) 16:34, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you are correct. I have updated the article accordingly. (Rather than just changing "first 3-way battle since 1974" to "first 3-way battle since 1981" I removed the clause entirely - I didn't think something occurring after only one year of not occurring was particularly notable).
