Please stop removing social media links, they are not banned, they are just suggested to be avoided, but you don't decide that. Thanks. "Links normally to be avoided" - this isn't a law. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boffo (talkcontribs) 00:29, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They are to be avoided if a link to band's official site is available. The band may link to their social media sites on their official site. I think I have implemented the policy correctly, but will gladly take the discussion to a more suitable location. Shall we take this up with the group at WP:ELNO? They've ruled against this very thing several times. See Wikipedia talk:External links#Tourniquet (band) as one I raised recently. Or perhaps WP:External links/Noticeboard would be preferred. In short, they should not be listed if an official website is available. If there's no official website, then they are OK to say. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:56, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
PS, if you do plan to undo it "forever", without discussing, you could be reprimanded. I suggest going to one of those locations to ask if it's OK to add them here. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:58, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to discuss this but it appears you have reverted a 4th time. Do you have anything to add before I report? You should have left the page as it was if you were going to report. --Boffo (talk) 01:28, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I was at dinner. What were you saying? Oh yes, you don't understand WP:ELNO. That's OK. I reported this page at WP:ELN and someone there should be able to tell you to push off. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:59, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Indirect threats won't help your cause. --Boffo (talk) 02:04, 28 June 2011 (UTC). If I'm found wrong by an administrator I can accept that and I will sleep tonight, but the resolution will have to be done through the proper channels.[reply]
No indirect threats, just reality. You won't be found wrong by an admin, but by other editors who understand policy. To reiterate, if an official link is present, social media links should not be. That is a rule you're breaking. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 02:08, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Boffo, do you agree that WP:ELNO advises against the types of links you are adding? While almost no rules on Wikipedia are hard lines, WP:ELNO is a WP:guideline which means it should generally be given a decent amount of deference. Is it really necessary to have the extra links? Couldn't people go to the official site, and then find the links from there? Its important that articles keep the External Links section manageable. Monty845 02:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WP:ELNO is a guideline and not a policy, as such it can be ignored, however to do so the editor who wishes to add the links (in this case Boffo) needs to make a case to the talk page why the links should be included and get consensus for them to be included. Boffo has not done that. Agree with Monty845 that the External Links section manageable so until consensus is reached to add more, limiting it only to the bands official website. As Mtking said "WP:ELNO is a guideline and not a policy, as such it can be ignored", I could pursue this further by making my case on the talk page, but that's fine. The official site has the links, and if it's that big of a deal regarding social media in 2011, I'll let it go. I'm happy with the outcome. Boffo (talk) 15:03, 28 June 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Article name[edit]

I'm not so familiar with this singer, but why is the article called Éowyn (band), if it's just about the single artist?Niera (talk) 09:55, 30 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
