Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- George Warren Brown School of Social Work → Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis (move) – the name of the school has changed due to changes in the programs offered, refer to their website to see this new name listed: https://brownschool.wustl.edu/ Vicvicand (talk) 19:38, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

- We don't match all-caps stylisms, only initialisms. See MOS:ALLCAPS. "NoHo" (ie. North Hollywood) is correct here. 162 etc. (talk) 17:11, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

- Megan Is Missing → Megan is Missing (currently a redirect back to Megan Is Missing) (move · discuss) – Silent correction of the copular verb "is" into the lower-case for minor grammatical reasons. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 15:15, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose per MOS:CT, which says to capitalize verbs in the titles of works such as films, and specifically mentions "is" as a verb to be capitalized. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:35, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Socialist Unity Party (currently a redirect to Socialist Unity Party of Germany) → Socialist Unity Party (disambiguation) (move · discuss) – The Socialist Unity Party of Germany is the clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for 'Socialist Unity Party', and as such the latter should be turned into a redirect pointing towards the former. The disambiguation page would simply be mentioned in a hatnote. Loytra (talk) 13:09, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Primary topic grabs are, by definition, not uncontroversial. 162 etc. (talk) 01:14, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- According to what policy? If something is very clearly the primary topic, I'm not at all sure why a move would be considered contested or controversial. Loytra (talk) 02:14, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Socialist Unity Party has gone from primary redirect to dabpage, then back to primary redirect, then back to dabpage. See WP:RMCM: "A move is potentially controversial if (...) there has been any past debate about the best title for the page; someone could reasonably disagree with the move." 162 etc. (talk) 04:21, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

- She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain → She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain (currently a redirect back to She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain) (move · discuss) – The apostrophe preceding the word "round" is not needed. Zacwill (talk) 22:08, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Only one source cited in the article has the song name in its title, and it uses "Around". The apostrophe seems needed to indicate the omission of the "A" at the beginning of that word. The Carl Sandburg source uses "Comin' Round", which also has an apostrophe, although in a different place. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:26, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fribourg railway station (currently a redirect to Fribourg/Freiburg railway station) → Fribourg/Freiburg railway station (move · discuss) – use of the official naming of this station because Fribourg is a bilingual city Swiss512 (talk) 17:05, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- It seems highly unlikely to me that this dual name is really the common name - people probably call it one or the other, not both. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:42, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. It seems the name Fribourg/Freiburg is used by the different railways operators that stop at this station.
- Here are some examples:

- Other articles have the station names in the two languages like : Murten/Morat railway station Sierre/Siders railway station and Biel/Bienne railway station. Therefore I think the article name should be changed. Swiss512 (talk) 18:26, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Congregational church (currently a redirect to Congregationalism) → Congregationalism (move · discuss) – This article discusses the tradition broadly rather than a particular church or churches. Move follows wiki naming conventions, see Presbyterianism vs Presbyterian polity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dirkwillems (talk • contribs) 17:24, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed the request to have the current title (and a sig). It hasn't been at Congregationalist church (with -ist) since 2004. SilverLocust 💬 07:13, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Dirkwillems: While this would follow the example of Presbyterian(ism/ polity), that example alone doesn't create a naming convention. It seems quite likely that there would be different views on how to title this and which article (if any) would be the primary topic for "Congregationalism" (it currently redirects to the other article, Congregationalist polity, as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT as asserted almost 4 years ago). This move is potentially controversial, so it would require a requested-move discussion, which you can begin by clicking "discuss" on your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). SilverLocust 💬 07:27, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

- Schlutzkrapfen → Mezzelune (currently a redirect back to Schlutzkrapfen) (move) – More common name. JackkBrown (talk) 18:36, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- The article's current title is the result of one editor's declaration in February 2022 that the dish originated in a German-speaking territory of Italy, so the German name should be used. The current request is for the Italian title to be restored, but the requester offered no evidence on whether that really is more common, and none of the sources in the article address the matter. I suggest finding further evidence that one of these really is the original title of the dish, and if a reliable source confirms one over the other, then that will be the article title here. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 16:51, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @JackkBrown: Since this has been contested in the past, please discuss this on the talk page. Based on my quick reading of Google Trends, it looks like Schlutzkrapfen is only the more common term in Germany and Austria, whereas Mezzelune is overwhelmingly the more common term in English-speaking countries. --Ahecht (TALK

- O Mur Apunar Dekh (currently a redirect to O Mur Apunar Desh) → O Mur Apunar Dex (currently a redirect instead to O Mur Apunar Desh) (move · discuss) – Dekh means to look, which is not the correct word. The correct word is country, which is either Dex in Assamese phonetics, or Desh in generic Indian transcription Chaipau (talk) 23:59, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Dashboard (visualization) (currently a redirect to Dashboard (computing)) → Dashboard (software) (currently a redirect instead to Dashboard (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – Dashboard (software) is currently a redirect. This name would be more appropriate for Dashboard (visualization ) as it standardized it with Control panel (software) GeogSage (⚔Chat?⚔) 20:03, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- The problem is that this would be incomplete disambiguation (WP:INCDAB), as other topics in Dashboard (disambiguation)#Computing and technology also consist of software. I think there should be some better disambiguator to use than this (or the previous Dashboard (business), which was underinclusive). On a side note, I have removed the extraneous space in the title you moved it to earlier, Dashboard (visualization ). SilverLocust 💬 21:02, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

- @RadioactiveBoulevardier can you find a Diff (see Help:Diff § Internal links) to the old move? I think this might need to be discussed? microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 14:46, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

- Well, technically I don’t see the issue. It’s an undiscussed move in a remote corner and there’s no hard deadline to grandfather the move in. There is a solid WP:PRIMARYTOPIC argument (if you exclude the war-related coverage of Yampil, Donetsk Oblast) so RMUM why not?
- RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 00:43, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- @RadioactiveBoulevardier: You appear to be requesting to revert this move from 2007 (95 edits ago). That is more than enough to be is a stable title for WP:TITLECHANGES / WP:RMUM / WP:SVTRT. You'll need to open a requested move, which you can do by clicking "discuss" on your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue).
