New page reviewer

User:Tigraan

My one-month trial recently expired (I learnt this when trying to greentick Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas after cleaning up the bad state it was in). In a month, I must have looked at 10-15 pages. I decided I did not want anything to do with most of them, made some small corrections to a few, marked one as patrolled, sent another one to AfD (it was kept, but I do not think the discussion reflects too badly on me). I think I CSD’d one or two but there is nothing in my Twinkle log so maybe I didn’t.

I do not think I will really ramp up my rate of reviews in the future, so I think it’s roughly the same situation as this, where a trial extension is needed before a full grant of the rights. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 13:03, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Every bit of help is needed, but have you fully read and digested WP:NPP and realised that it has a steep learning curve for something an editor might not be ready to commit to in depth? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:50, 2 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tigraan, can you respond to Kudpung's comment? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sure (I was on a trip, wasn’t able to edit).
I do have read WP:NPP in full. I would think I have climbed 80-85% of the learning curve back in 2015-2016 when I did patrols before the user right existed (feel free to read through the log, though I will readily admit that the first 10 or so CSD tags were wildly incorrect), and another 10% through Teahouse support, so it’s not like I am entirely new at this either.
So, yes, I think I am able to do it, even if at a low rate of monthly patrols. I realize that whether I am actually competent at it is difficult to judge based on very little activity, which is why I suggested a trial extension. Fair enough.  Done for a longer trial of three months. – Joe (talk) 13:28, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like permission to review draft articles, as I've come across several good quality drafts waiting in the long review queue, while I was doing other cleanup tasks. I believe I have sufficient experience editing to offer help with the draft article backlog. Thanks. Storchy (talk) 20:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC) Storchy (talk) 20:44, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Storchy: Did you mean to post this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants instead? This page is for requesting the permission to review new mainspace pages, not review drafts. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:03, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, yes I did want that other permission, thanks. Storchy (talk) 21:22, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to interpret the above as  Request withdrawn signed, Rosguill talk 21:56, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I would like to request to become a new page reviewer because I believe that I have the understanding and experience required to use the tools effectively. I also would like to help reduce the backlog of new articles that need to be reviewed, and I believe that I would be able to help out with this a lot if I had the permissions. With regard to my statistics, I have been an editor since 2018, I have over 4,000 edits, I am a reviewer for AfC, I have lots of counter-vandalism experience (and lots of CSD experience), and I have a good understanding of Wikipedia’s policies, including for notability, neutral point of view, and other policies related to page creation and CSD tagging (as it relates to unconstructive editing, such as dealing with vandalism and promotional articles). I signed up to assist with the backlog before realizing I didn't have the permissions. I've been a confirmed user since 2009, but have only recently been editing with purpose. Authored 9-ish articles so far and overhauled around 9. Lindsey40186 (talk) 20:38, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Thanks for volunteering, but it'd be good to see you get some more experience first, especially in WP:AfC and/or WP:AFD. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:25, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights Mahakal17 (talk) 17:14, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mahakal17, Hi, is there a reason you want the the right, as you are using the default request text. Thanks, | Zippybonzo | Talk | 08:43, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(Non-administrator comment) From a quick look at the candidate's talk page, I'm not sure they have fully understood the criteria for patrolling an article that would safely pass a reviewer's scrutiny. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
