Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 162.208.168.92 (talk) at 15:34, 3 April 2021 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=reason for move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.

Uncontroversial technical requests

It has incoming links from three articles, one of which is a list. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 15:29, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and two bad links to football players who play in the Finnish Maple League, which I just fixed. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 15:34, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Contested technical requests

  • Andrea Giannini  Andrea Giannini (pole vaulter) (move · discuss) – There was apparently another Andrea Giannini who served Captains Regent (head of state) of San Marino for many terms. I think a head of state should be given precedence over a low-profile athlete. Other thoughts? Dan the Animator 18:33, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Dantheanimator: There's no article about the captain regent, so no need for a move. Just add a hatnote to the article if there's something about the captain regent on WP. Station1 (talk) 19:12, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is mentions not articles In ictu oculi (talk) 10:24, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fannia (genus) (currently a redirect to Fannia (fly))  Fannia (fly) (move · discuss) – disambiguator qualifier "(genus)" is generally not allowed. See explanation here: User:Estopedist1/Taxons and disambiguation Estopedist1 (talk) 12:46, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • This is an essay in your userspace, not some guideline issued by a wikiproject (ie. WP:BIOL or WP:TOL). It lacks a talk page, and does not show any sort of WP:CONSENSUS disucssion. Can you point to the consensus seeking discussion that established that the content of your essay reached some sort of agreement with other users, where a large group of users were atleast notified? From your user talk page, it seems there is disagreement with other zoological editors about the content of your edits to zoological articles, so relying on your own written essay would not seem to be appropriate. -- 67.70.27.246 (talk) 12:55, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
