New page reviewer

User:DoubleGrazing

I would like to help get that pending submissions backlog down a bit. I'm familiar with the core principles of notability, neutrality, BLP requirements, etc., and also frequently nominate for and participate in AfD so have a reasonable idea of what would or wouldn't survive there. I often come across new articles in the uncategorised and dead end feeds, and deal with them as and when I find them, but obviously that's just a small subset of new articles and doesn't address AfC submissions. In short, I would like, and also feel I'm ready, to contribute more widely and more formally. Cheers, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:27, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DoubleGrazing, your track record looks good enough for me to be comfortable conferring permissions, but your request here makes it seem like you may be looking for AfC pseudo-permissions. signed, Rosguill talk 20:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rosguill: Thanks for your comment. I wasn't knowingly asking for pseudo-anything. But the fact that I may have inadvertently done so, or at least appeared to have, kind of suggests that I perhaps didn't know what I was asking for as well as I thought I did. Which, in itself, seems to me like a good enough reason to decline my request. :) If you do grant me the permissions, I will learn them thoroughly and use them judiciously, but I understand why you might not want to. Thanks either way, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 22:25, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DoubleGrazing, I'm reasonably confident that you'll be able to help out, whether at AfC or NPR, so my goal here isn't to make you jump through bureaucratic hoops, but I wanted to make sure that you're signing up for the work you want to be doing. Read through the descriptions of NPR and AfC and let me know. signed, Rosguill talk 22:31, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill: Yep, will do. Thanks, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 22:37, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rosguill: sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. I've now got my head out of the haze, and it's the NPR right I would like to request (I don't even know why or how I got the AfC confused with that). So NPR, definitely. And next time I promise to think first and write then, it tends to work better that way for everyone involved. :) Cheers, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:24, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:Ziad Rashad

Hello! I'm requesting this user right because I believe I can do my best to assist with reviewing new pages. I'm pretty familiar with all the Wikipedia deletion processes, the discussions that revolve around them as well as dealing with new comers, mainly to avoid biting any of them while reviewing new pages. I'm also familiar with the basic content and legal polices so I think I meet the criteria needed for NPR. Ziad Rashad (talk) 11:35, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I've actually surpassed the 500 mainspace edits mark and nearing 1000 total edits. - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk]
Thank you for your interest in this permission. However, I'm not seeing any experience in NPR-adjacent work such as deletion processes (AfD, PROD, or CSD) or AfC. Please consider reapplying for this permission once you've gained some experience in these areas. For now,  Not done. signed, Rosguill talk 15:48, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill: I'm pretty sure I've participated in at least 5+ CSD and one AfC just today. Thanks for the response but I'm curious, did nothing show up in my contribs? - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk] 22:08, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see any record of AfD participation using the AfD stats tool, nor did anything show up in your deletion tag logs. Your move of a single article to draftspace appears to have been done after I reviewed your contributions. signed, Rosguill talk 22:24, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Rosguill: Ah, understandable. As I mentioned above, I am familiar with the deletion processes as a whole and the ones I haven't been directly involved with I've made sure I thoroughly read about them and examine discussions. Usually, CSD and AfC are more common when it comes to new pages, that's why I'm on them more often.
Do I have to be directly involved in all four, not just understand how to conduct the deletion processes and be involved in some of them (as that's what I thought WP:NPPR stated)? - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk] 05:23, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ziad Rashad you don't need extensive experience in all four to be considered, but right now you haven't participated enough to leave a track record that I can evaluate to assess how well you understand relevant guidelines. You may well have the necessary skills, but your lack of participation across these fields of work makes that impossible for me to verify. signed, Rosguill talk 15:52, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Rosguill: Sorry if I made this too long, thank you! Any idea when I can apply again? Perhaps by then I'd be way more involved in all the fields. - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk] 18:33, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ziad Rashad I would suggest waiting at least a month. signed, Rosguill talk 18:49, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, I'll do my best. - 𓋹 𝓩𝓲𝓪𝓭 𝓡𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓭 𓋹 [user | talk] 19:15, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I want to help out in stopping the backlog of new pages and make sure that these pages do not have spam or copyvios. I am familiar with the CSD process, and have marked pages for copyvios in the past. I have also frequently reverted vandalism and warned the vandal. If I am granted this permission I will do my best to review pages.

Whatever the answer is, thanks for considering! βӪᑸᙥӴTalkContribs 22:27, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm concerned that an article you created only a little more than a month ago was G11 deleted.  Not done signed, Rosguill talk 22:48, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
How long do you think it would be good to wait before applying again? βӪᑸᙥӴTalkContribs 20:45, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That depends on the extent and quality of your contributions in the intervening period, but no sooner than a few months is a reasonable baseline IMO. In particular, I would hope to see article creations that demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant guidelines and policy, and thoughtful participation at AfD. signed, Rosguill talk 22:19, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to help reduce the NPP backlog. I dabble in all sorts of NPR-adjacent fields, including speedy-deletion (log available here), PROD (log available here), AfD, and AfC. Much of my work involves articles of questionable notability, and so I'm pretty familiar with the GNG and the various subject-specific guidelines. I've also done a few bits of content work, growing my understanding of sourcing and verifiability. Cheers, Extraordinary Writ (talk) 01:07, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
