The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (abbreviated as APCRDA[1]) was an urban planning agency of the capital, Amaravati. It was notified on 30 December 2014 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as per Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Act, 2014, it replaced the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority.[2][3] Again was de-notifed to form AMRDA as APCRDA was Repealed,
The fate of APCRDA hanged in balance as the Andhra Pradesh government tabled a bill to repeal it on 16 June 2020.[4] Finally, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan approved the repeal of APCRDA on 31 July 2020 and AMRDA was formed.
Administration
The APCRDA was formerly known as VGTM Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA), which was formed in 1978 with an area of 1,954 km2 (754 sq mi).[5] In 2012, it was expanded to 7,063 km2 (2,727 sq mi).[6] Post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, it was defunct and was renamed as APCRDA.[7] . APCRDA is Defunct now and Again VGTM Urban Development Authority is formed. The head office of the authority is located at Lenin centre in Vijayawada.[8] It also has three sub-registrar offices at Thullur, Ananthavaram and Mandadam.[9] The present commissioner of the authority is P. Lakshmi Narasimham.[10] The authority has a jurisdictional area of 8,352.69 km2 (3,224.99 sq mi),[11] covering the districts of Guntur and Krishna,[12] including 217 km2 (84 sq mi) of the state capital, Amaravati.[13]
AMRDA
The areas within the jurisdiction of APCRDA under the principal Act, viz., the A.P. Capital Region shall be deemed to be constituted as Amaravati Metropolitan Region Development Area under the Andhra Pradesh Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016 notwithstanding the procedure contained in Section 3 of the said Act. The Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities constituted under Section 4 of the said Act to be named as the Amaravati Metropolitan Region Development Authority (hereinafter referred to as the AMRDA) shall be notified by the Government on the cessation of APCRDA.
