Date of birth should be 1959, not 1961. See http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/09/magazine/arundhati-roy-the-not-so-reluctant-renegade.html JamesTDNorton (talk) 04:07, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
Semi-protection did not stop this unsupported edit for getting in: "She courts fame by frequently making incendiary comments against the Indian government and Hindus. She is an Islamist and has supported ISIS in the past. She also openly expressed her support for Jihadi groups in Kashmir, Naxalism and other violent separatist movements in India." Lol. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.67.100.154 (talk) 11:21, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
How do you claim the dob is correct?
User:Wuerzele The very link that is provided claims DOB in 1961. So apparently you have not checked facts before claiming the wrong dob as correct .Thanks ..so plz revert back Happy sage (talk) 03:09, 22 November 2015 (UTC) I also notice that the correct dob was changed ,by the link before the post... Along with the citation given,i provide more sources here.Weroy [1] [http://themanbookerprize.com/people/arundhati-roy}} official booker site — Preceding unsigned comment added by Happy sage (talk • contribs) 03:37, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- The link provided by User:JamesTDNorton gives 1959 as her DOB. So User:Wuerzele was right in making the change. Since almost all other sources, including the booker prize website and her entry at Britannica encyclopaedia, say 1961, perhaps that will be the correct one. 122.174.195.46 (talk) 10:02, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- The link given near the dob ..i mean the "Suzzane arundhati Roy " is brittanica..as you have found out ,that has 1961.But i requested him both on user talk page as well as here to explain his measures.but he was only interested to revert rather than discussThat should never be the attitude. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Happy sage (talk • contribs) 15:11, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- Happy sage when you changed teh birth year you did not add a source for that claim. hence my revert. sources are quoted AFTEr claims. as per your "So apparently you have not checked facts..." that is an accusation without merit because I did.
- Since sources differ on her birth year the question becomes if we should we list both birth years followed by their respective refs
- What do others [[User:JamesTDNorton], 122.174.195.46 think? --Wuerzele (talk) 10:22, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
- Alright, but please note that my reason for not adding source was because the dob mention near "suzanne arundhati roy" (brittannica) was claiming 1961.dat was the reason for not adding source .

Itz okie now,We should add 1961 more preferably because so many news channels mentioned her "50th" birthday on 24th Nov,2011.official man booker sites claims 1961 too.Other way is to add both dates . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Happy sage (talk • contribs) 13:00, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
- I am correcting the date of birth to 1961 as given in the author biography in several of her books. Also most reliable sources claim the DOB as 1961 as already pointed out by other users. I don't think listing both birth years is a good suggestion. Malayala Sahityam (talk) 17:56, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Semi-protected edit request on 30 December 2015 - niece to cousin
This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
"Roy is a niece[7] of prominent media personality Prannoy Roy, the head of the leading Indian TV media group NDTV"
This is incorrect. According to Mary Roy's (her mother) own words:
"I met my husband through his elder brother, Prannoy's father, who was also working at Metal Box, a reputed company in Kolkata. I worked as a secretary there."
Source: There’s something about Mary
Hence Please change the text as below:
"Roy is the cousin of prominent media personality Prannoy Roy, the head of the leading Indian TV media group NDTV"
