Birds

Hello! Great edits on the bird lists.........just as a background, Wikipedia has standardized with the IOC (International Ornithological Congress) for English names when dealing with species pages. There can be variation with the North and South American lists for country and state lists. I'd use whatever the AOU American Ornithologists Union (both North and South American committees) are using for that. Didn't see any conflicts.....thought I'd give you a heads up if that helps......Pvmoutside (talk) 16:20, 13 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

Craig....Great work on the new lists! I hope you stick around! I see you've been updating some lists, and hope you can continue to help updating as the AOU makes changes....I know they are looking to update yellow-rumped warbler next year......Pvmoutside (talk) 02:12, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I'd suggest standardizing the Texas list to you, not that you aren't busy already......It is simple form and can be updated to look like the other US state lists. I'd do it but I'm trying to finish the IOC updates first..I'd also like to suggest removing the species numbers from the header. It is also one of my future projects so the list doesn't need to be monitored that way and we don't lose much by removing it....Pvmoutside (talk) 22:39, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 10

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of birds of Alabama, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Western flycatcher (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into List of birds of Nunavut. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:50, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (List of birds of Northwest Territories) has been reviewed!

Thanks for creating List of birds of Northwest Territories, Craigthebirder!

Wikipedia editor Nick Moyes just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

This is a really nice list - thank you. May I make a personal observation? Having published checklists of my own, I'm a great believer in making data sortable to give the user the greatest access to the information in the form they might want. It might have been good had you listed all 298 taxa in the form of a sortable wikitable, with columns for common name, scientific name, family name and 'notes'. That way, users can sort and retrieve information in many different ways. See this species list I created recently. It doesn't look so nice, but I believe it is more functional: List of species and habitats of principal importance in England.

Grey is gray

In Canada, we spell gray as grey. Same as in Great Britain, India, Australia, .... It is recognized that either spelling is acceptable in bird names. This is a Canadian list you have been reverting to American (i.e., US) spelling please desist. If you check most of your redirects were to sites that used the UK/Canadian spellings. PS, the Great Grey Shrike is a real species. Check the Cornell site (e.g., eBird). Dger (talk) 14:16, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
