Georg III, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen (b. Kassel, 11 October 1892 - d. as prissioner of war [POW] in Russian camp of Tschernpowetz, Siberia, 6 January 1946), was the head of the house of Saxe-Meiningen.

He was the first son of Johann Frederick (second son of Georg II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen) and Adelaide of Lippe-Biesterfeld.

After the death of his uncle Bernhard III, in 1928, Georg asumed the headship of the house of Saxe-Meiningen and the title of Duke of Saxe-Meiningen (only nominal, because Bernhard III have lost the duchy in 1918).

In Freiburg im Breisgau on 22 February 1919 Georg married with the Countess Klara Maria of Korff gt Schmissing-Kerssenbrock. They have four children:

  1. Anton-Ulrich (b. Jena, 23 December 1919 - killed in action Albert-sur-Somme, 20 May 1940).
  2. Frederick Alfred Carl Ludwig Vincenz Maria (b. Jena, 5 April 1921 - d. Bennington, 18 September 1997); he was a monk and allowed the succession to pass him by in favor of his uncle.
  3. Marie Elisabeth (b. Jena, 18 December 1922 - d. Jena, 31 March 1923).
  4. Regina Helene Elisabeth Margarete (b. Würzburg, 6 January 1925), married on 10 may 1951 to Archiduke Otto of Habsburg.
