==Controversy==
There is a controversy regarding when verse 5:67 was revealed:
:'' O Apostle! deliver what has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do it not, then you have not delivered His message, and Allah will protect you from the people; surely Allah will not guide the unbelieving people.

Some Sunnis view it was revealed during this Pilgrimage, while some other sunnis and the Shi'a view it was revealed just prior to the Ghadir Khumm event.

The Farewell Pilgrimage was the last major pilgrimage (Arabic: Hajj) the Islamic prophet Muhammad participiated in.

Preparations

According to the Muslim view, the angel Gabriel came to Muhammad evry year to read the Qur'an with him, but this year he came twice. Muhammad understood this as his time was coming to an end, and thus anounced that he would make a pilgrimage. He did not announce that it would be his last pilgrimage [citation needed] until during the pilgrimage itself.

Journey

Since the Conquest of Mecca accomplished, and the Battle of Tabuk was ended, most of the Arabian Peninsula was under Muhammads control, thus, there was a record high attendance to the pilgrimiga.

Event

It was during this pillgrimage that he declared the validity of the Mut'ah of Hajj.

The Farewell Sermon

Prophet Muhammad led the Pilgrims from Makkah through the Valley of Mina and up to the Mountain of Arafat and then stopped them in the Valley of Uranah.

They stood in front of him silently as he sat on his camel & delivered this sermon. With a crowd of over 120000 pilgrims, his voice could not reach out to all those who were present. He therefore asked Rab'ah ibn Umayah ibn Khalaf, who was known to have a loud voice, to repeat the sermon after him, sentence by sentence so that everyone could hear. The sermon is as follows.

Departure

It was first after the departure that the events of Ghadir Khumm took place where the controversial hadith of the two weighty things and Hadith of the pond of Khumm where reported.

Controversy

There is a controversy regarding when verse 5:67 was revealed:

O Apostle! deliver what has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do it not, then you have not delivered His message, and Allah will protect you from the people; surely Allah will not guide the unbelieving people.

Some Sunnis view it was revealed during this Pilgrimage, while some other sunnis and the Shi'a view it was revealed just prior to the Ghadir Khumm event.
