Ellis Paul at TwickFolk, May 2006

TwickFolk (previously known as Twickenham Folk Club) is a folk club in Twickenham, south-west London. Established in January 1983,[1][2] and now one of the best known and most highly respected folk clubs in the South East of England,[3] it is run, not for profit, by a small group of volunteers.[2]

TwickFolk organises gigs on Sunday evenings, usually at the Cabbage Patch pub in London Road, Twickenham,[4] featuring British and North American acoustic folk and roots-based music. The evening usually consists of a main "guest" preceded by a support act or several floor spots. Past guests include Ben Bedford,[5][6] Chuck Brodsky,[7] Kris Drever,[8] Carrie Elkin,[9] Mark Erelli,[10] Stephen Fearing,[11] Will Kaufman,[12] Lau,[4] Madison Violet,[13] Emily Maguire,[14] Iain Matthews,[15] Jim Moray,[16] Pete Morton,[17] Ellis Paul,[18] Rod Picott,[19] Rebecca Pronsky,[20] Kim Richey,[21] Justin Rutledge,[22]Southern Tenant Folk Union,[23] Greg Trooper,[24] Kevin Welch[25] and Chris Wood.

Noel Murphy's 1997 CD A Session was recorded live at the club.[26]

In December 2008 TwickFolk hosted an afternoon event, featuring Scottish singer Karine Polwart, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to raise awareness of and funds for Amnesty International.[27] TwickFolk has also held charity nights benefiting the British Heart Foundation, Children in Need and local charities.[1][2]
