Afro-Honduran are Hondurans of African descent. They are estimated to be a population of 150,000, or 2% of the country.[1] The percentage of the population might be higher; the National Assembly of Afro-Honduran Organizations and Communities put the population at 10%.[2] At least part of the Afro-Hondurans are: Garifuna established in Roatan Island and on the shores of the country. Furthermore, according to the Human Development Report of the United Nations Central America, in 2003 there would be 200,000 Garifuna in Honduras, while in 2011 their number was estimated at 600 000 people (8% of the population).[3]

In Honduras, were imported slaves Mandinka kangkurao of the Gambia River in Senegambia. [4]Furthermore, when the Black Caribs come to Trujillo, Honduras were already from the previous year, 1796, approximately 300 "French black" from Santo Domingo in the context of the conflict that gives rise to the independence of Haiti.
