Pérez sang in the choir and he played in the Baptist church in the neighborhood. Then he was part of several rock bands in his neighborhood until he was invited to join the group Pearly Queen (a Top 40 cover band, which was very successful in Miami in 1973), when he had 15 year. The group won a contract to play in all Big Daddy Flanigan Clubs in the U.S. and Canada-90 clubs playing five sets a night, five or six nights a week. He remained in the group for five years. In these clubs he learned to produce music. They had to play hit songs of the moment.
