The movie portrays a middle class family of which two eldest sons in the family are portrayed by Sreenivasan (Prabhakaran) and Jayaram (Prakasan, a.k.a. KRP) who are activists in two opposing political parties (in an allegory to Kerala political scene). They keep fighting with each other, and the relation between the parties are reflected in their interactions at home. Thilakan plays their father, a Railway Station master posted away from home, who returns home very infrequently. Kaviyoor Ponnamma plays their mother. They have a younger brother and two sisters. Shankaradi and Mamukkoya plays the local leaders of their parties, respectively. The movie unwinds slowly, introducing new characters and with absolutely hilarious situations and dialogues, which are even now, known to people far and wide all across the state of Kerala. The movie makes fun of both the prominent parties in the state, the Left and the Right alliance, and at the same time, manages to reflect the same in the family.
