Bhoj Raj Seth (1907-1979)[1] known with the initials, B R. Seth was an Indian professor of engineering and the father of Kiran Seth.[2] He was the first vice chancellor of Dibrugarh University in 1966[3] and had worked in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.[4]

Seth was born in Bhura, Panjab, Delhi.[3][note 1] In 1927, Seth had his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Hindu College. He continued his MA in the same course at University of Delhi, earning a degree in 1929.[5] Seth was a lecturer of applied mathematics who taught in IIT Kharagpur and is considered to have made a notable impact to that field in the 20th century.[6][7] He was the editor of Journal of Science and Engineering Research of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.[8] He died on 12 December 1979.[9]

In 1936, Seth became a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, in the mathematical sciences section.[10] He was also a fellow of the Indian National Science Academy.[11]
