Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Francis McClintock (currently a redirect to Leopold McClintock) → Leopold McClintock (move · discuss) – The subject gave preference to using his middle name and was best known as Sir Leopold McClintock. See for example the photo of the memorial dedicated to the subject at Westminster Abbey on this page or how his first given name is enclosed in parentheses on this page of the National Portrait Gallery. - Cyclone Lothar (1999) (currently a redirect to Cyclone Lothar) → Cyclone Lothar (move · discuss) – Year redundant as there has never been another cyclone named Lothar Buttons0603 (talk) 21:27, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Draft:I, Carumbus (currently a redirect to I, Carumbus) → I, Carumbus (move · discuss) – Ready for mainspace. TheTVExpert (talk) 20:26, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Nic Brown (swimmer) (currently a redirect to Nic Brown) → Nic Brown (move · discuss) – The base page of Nic Brown is protected from being created. There is no other page with this title, so the dab is not needed. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:49, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Loser like Me (song) → Loser Like Me (song) (currently a redirect back to Loser like Me (song)) (move · discuss) – correct capitalization per MOS:TITLECAPS. Vpab15 (talk) 17:59, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

- Lottie Tomlinson. is invalid. Must create Lottie Tomlinson. before requesting that it be moved to Lottie Tomlinson.– remove punctuation Captain Calm (talk) 11:25, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- José Laurel Jr. (currently a redirect to Jose Laurel Jr.) → Jose Laurel Jr. (move · discuss) – Person lived in an era where diacritics are no longer used, and virtually all WP:RS omit the diacritic. Father's name (who could arguably have used the diacritic himself) doesn't have it. Howard the Duck (talk) 16:01, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Central Pashto → Standard Pashto (move · discuss) – Central Pashto is different from Standard Pashto. One is spoken in Wardak, the other is a literary standard. - But this seems to go hand in hand with a change in the topic structure. Edito3pasi2, is your intention to have separate articles about Standard and Central Pashto? In that case, wouldn't it be better to keep the article at its title but split out the relevant content into the new Standard Pashto? I'm not so much arguing for this as I'm asking a question – we need to know what's the plan before moving the page. – Uanfala (talk) 22:07, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
