Rollback
- Jacob Gotts (t · th · c · del · cross-wiki · SUL · edit counter · pages created (xtools · sigma) · non-automated edits · BLP edits · undos · manual reverts · rollbacks · logs (blocks · rights · moves) · rfar · spi · cci)
- Hi! I've been a Wikipedia user for a number of years, but I have been getting more seriously into it now -- creating articles, participating in project dicussion, and most relevant to this, patrolling RecentChanges. So far I have done a couple thousand rollbacks using TWINKLE. While this basically works (and I have little rollback buttons on the page), it sometimes gets sluggish, and it's kind of tiresome to load fifty separate tabs from RC... and then try to keep my browser windows straight when each revert shifts focus to a new tab for giving the user talkpage warning. I have heard that Huggle is a well-made piece of software and I'd like to try it out. I don't think I have done any seriously dumb rollbacks (although I have fat-fingered a couple and reverted to the wrong version). I don't know of any way to measure the efficacy of a rollbacker beyond that, but my reverts almost always stand, and people give me "thanks" sometimes, so I guess that's cool. jp×g 09:24, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

- Hello! I am requesting rollback rights as I am often patrolling the recent changes log, reverting vandalism with Twinkle and I would like to try tools such as SWViewer and Huggle as they seem like more efficient alternatives, however they require rollback rights. I feel like over the past month and a bit I have demonstrated my understanding of how to handle vandalism on Wikipedia and I believe I am much more experienced now, compared to when I was when I last requested rollback rights. - Hello, I am Go-Tsumaroki and I would like to re-apply for the rollback rights. The last time I applied I was an unexperienced editor with not much experience under my belt. Over the past week I have learned all about vandalism, good faith edits, and more. I have gathered almost 400 mainspace edits (excluding grammar fixes and such). Thank you. - Not done You'll need to wait longer than a couple of weeks before reapplying for rollback. You're still making rookie mistakes like failing to warn the users you revert on their talk page. Additionally, you should be more specific in your edit summaries. Are they test edits or vandalism? DoubleCheck does a very poor job of distinguishing between them. - Hi, I would like to request rollback rights mainly for the rollback-only anti-vandalism tools. While I realize I'm relatively new on Wikipedia I've in that time focused almost exclusively on fighting vandalism. I've also almost completed a CVUA course under Synoman Barris (only need to do the final exam). Thanks in advance for considering my request, Asartea Talk | Contribs 14:48, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Being the trainer of Asartea has been a pleasure, he is a committed, smart and fast. I support his request to be granted rollback (maybe on a trial period) since from his contributions he has shown he can grasp and follow policy being able to amass over 1000 non-problematic edits within three weeks of which most are from his counter-vandalism work. Reference to the course is at User:Synoman Barris/CVUA/Asartea. Cheers Megan☺️ Talk to the monster 15:39, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- Done for a month trial period. I take some issue with some of the answers to the questions at your CVUA page and some of the recent reverts you've made, including [3], [4], and [5]. All three of these edits should have been undone, but your summary in all three cases should have been vandalism, not good-faith changes. Also, just a bit of advice, your answer to the "Fuck Wiki" question is wrong. A page of that nature would be pure vandalism, not an attack page. G10 requires a living person. - Hello again my trial period is expired. With the ability of rollback rights it is easier to revert edit with obvious vandalism. I have a request declined earlier see this. Thanks for considering my request. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 04:38, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

- Not done because of these errors: good-faith edit, not removal of content, did not warn after revert (there more examples of this [7]), not a test edit, improper use of rollback, good-faith edit, NPOV rather than vandalism, good-faith edit. Anarchyte (talk • work) 13:48, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

- Hello, I'm requesting the rollback flag because I'd like to use Huggle to patrol more efficiently. I've never received a warning template (apart from accidental ones) and I have 2,574 edits (1,358 mainspace). I always warn and report to AIV when warned sufficiently. I use edit summaries where they are needed. Thanks. Dylsss (talk) 15:20, 6 October 2020 (UTC)

- Among my activities at Wikipedia, I mostly scrutinize IP edits and revert possible vandalism, undersourced addition in good faith, unexplained removal of contents from articles. I use proper warning templates to notify the users about vandalism or other unconstructive edits and have raised a number of times some notorious issues at AVR. I am a member of CVU as well. I mostly use twinkle for reverting and rollbacking, but I have heard using Huggle will make the task even easier but for that possibly rollback right is needed. I am applying for the rollbacker right so that I can contribute to counter vandalism more efficiently.
- I don't know if it is relevant, but I had faced a warning for copyvio for one of my initial major edits while updating an article which was due to for not being enough careful. I have understood the seriousness involved with copyvio and I have been very scrupulous since then about the copyvio issues and have removed some copyvio from some articles as a good practice. ☆★Mamushir (✉✉) 07:09, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

- Recently, I've been working extensively on patrolling recent changes and new articles and it's way harder to undo vandalism without the rollback tools. I've been here, on Wikipedia, for about 9 years and I have almost 10,000 edits. Additionally, I have experience using the rollback tools on pt.WP where I am a rollbacker and a "eliminator". - As someone who contributes to the project by fighting vandalism, Rollback permissions would allow me to use tools such as Huggle to continue my vandalism fighting. I currently use tools such as RCPatrol and Twinkle for this vandalism fighting. There have been cases where I would have benefited more from having Rollback permissions. I believe I have demonstrated a very good track record of finding and removing vandalism. BJackJS talk 19:50, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- Automated comment This user has had 1 request for rollback declined in the past 90 days ([8]) and has 75 edits in the mainspace. — MusikBot talk 19:50, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not an Administrator, but unfortunately I think this will get declined for the same reasons as your previous declined request. Your first edit was less than a month ago, so you are still new to Wikipedia. As noted at the top of the page, "Applicants with fewer than 200 mainspace edits are unlikely to be granted this right.". As the bot noted above, you only have 75 mainspace edits (not even half of the 200 mainspace edits recommended). I recommend you to continue to fight vandalism using the tools available that you are already aware of, such as Redwarn and Twinkle and that you demonstrate some experience in fighting vandalism. You can also join the Counter Vandalism Unit, to gain some experience in fighting vandalism and then re-request at a later stage. Eyebeller (talk) 20:18, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
- Not done Absolutely not. You were already declined for this because you're a brand new, inexperienced user. That's okay, but coming here a week later to make another request is not. You clearly have not even read WP:ROLLBACK or you would know that you do not meet the minimum requirements, indeed you don't meet even half of the minimum edit count. There's zero chance of us even humoring this request. I'm not trying to be mean, we do appreciate anti-vandalism work, however spamming requests for advanced permissions that you're not qualified for is highly frowned upon. Come back in 3 or 4 months and with several hundred more edits to your name, and we can reconsider. ~Swarm~ {sting} 01:26, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
