@Drmies: I wanted 10 edits to remove the New User Landing Screen. I didn't edit any page besides the sandbox. What did I do wrong here? Naleksuh (talk) 04:23, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Are you not a new user? Drmies (talk) 04:24, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Drmies: I edit some wikis for very specific purposes but also want to edit the main Wikipedia ("everything wiki") to learn more about stuff in general. Most of the time there's simply a header and a link to create the page, but instead I get redirected to the New User Landing page which was annoying for me. I was editing the sandbox to remove this restriction. Please consider unblocking me because I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to do this. Naleksuh (talk) 04:27, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • OK, but how about you stop being marked as a new user by, eh, making edits, in the way that most users do? You could improve some articles. Drmies (talk) 04:28, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
        • @Drmies: I felt like the restriction was stopping me from making improvements, but that is gone now. In any case, thank you for unblocking me. I will see about making some edits to the main articles. Naleksuh (talk) 04:30, 16 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A belated welcome!

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Naleksuh. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may still benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Again, welcome! – Aranya (talk) 17:24, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Aranya: Hello, and thank you. Yes, I edit other wikis previously to Wikipedia, but I created my account here about three weeks ago. May I also ask that when you reverse the vandalism on Religion in Spain do you get a warning about using free hosting as a source? I did. Naleksuh (talk) 17:31, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Naleksuh, I actually used rollback for the edit, so it was only marked with a tag that denotes its usage. – Aranya (talk) 18:05, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Aranya: I mean that when I undid the edit on Religion in Spain, it gave me an orange warning telling me to not use free hosting as a source. I had to click Submit twice to reverse the vandalism. I think it doesn't happen to rollback edits, but I reported it since I did not add any new sources, only ones that were already there. Naleksuh (talk) 20:04, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're right. Thanks for taking the time to report the issue. – Aranya (talk) 20:16, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

Hey,

I noticed that you mark all of your edits as "minor". Please do not do this, as "minor edit" has a very specific meaning here on Wikipedia, referring to such edits as grammatical and typo corrections, etc. Thanks!

John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 05:04, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@John M Wolfson: Most of my edits are minor in the general sense, I rarely revamp like starting new pages from the ground up and such. However I do see the carved definition of minor, I will try to not mark things such as new comments or new content as minor, but i've been editing like this for 7 years and it may be difficult for me to change. Sorry if this is inconveniencing! Naleksuh (talk) 06:02, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Be that as it may, making this change is as simple as not checking a certain box when you submit your edit. If you have a setting activated that automatically checks that box for you (which I doubt exists, but still), I would deactivate it. Thanks! – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 02:32, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for reverting your edit!

I have an internet connection that is slightly slow, so I sometimes revert the person who reverts the vandalism. I'm verry sorry for reverting your edit! --Incagnito (talk) 02:57, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Incagnito: Thanks for apology, but that is not your fault, it is the fault of the tool you are using (RedWarn). I recommend using something else, or take like me and don't use any tool but the actual web interface. Also, Template:Uw-vandalism1 and others accept a parameter, of the page that was vandalized. Small tip :) Naleksuh (talk) 02:59, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What other anti-vandalism tools are there? --Incagnito (talk) 03:00, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Incagnito: You can try Wikipedia:Twinkle - it is the tool RedWarn was designed after. But ultimately, tools are not necessary to revert vandalism. You can try reverting just with undo and regular old edits. Naleksuh (talk) 03:01, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try. --Incagnito (talk) 03:03, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Naleksuh: I've tried, and manually reverting vandalism works very well. Thanks for your advice! --Incagnito (talk) 03:24, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Katyn

Please resist the urge to revert repeatedly, even if the other users are being insulting. Contact an administrator, since it's not clear-cut vandalism. However, given the aggressive obnoxiousness of the IP, they're blocked for personal attacks. Acroterion (talk) 20:39, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Acroterion: It is clear-cut vandalism, because the user was banned by the WMF. Such reverts are exempt from the 3rr. Contacting an administrator in addition to is possibly, but there is lots of iphopping aswell. Naleksuh (talk) 20:41, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it became clear who was doing that, but it's not obvious to the passer-by. Acroterion (talk) 22:12, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Acroterion: I even went as far to link his lta page in the undo summaries, what more am i expected to do? Naleksuh (talk) 03:39, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Report it to administrators, don't just keep reverting. Acroterion (talk) 13:12, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
