Pending changes reviewer

User:Wpeneditor

I've been on Wikipedia for some time now and I've familarised myself with most of the wiki policies. I have been increasing my edits in recent months and will continue doing so. I occasionally come across vandalism while editing. One example is the 2018 North Korea–United States summit page which was semi-protected in the previous month. As it was a high-volume page, there were cases of vandalism and some edits were obviously incorrect, such as this one but were overlooked and accepted. For edits, I have also created several properly cited and formatted articles, such as Broader Options for Americans Act and One America Appeal. As such, I would like to request for this permission to assist me in handling vandalism and I strongly believe that this permission will allow me to better handle vandalism. Thank you. Given one of the links above, I'm not sure you understand what pending changes reviews are. Can you briefly explain what they do and how they do it? -- Amanda (aka DQ) 00:27, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DeltaQuad: Thanks for your response. I assume you are referring to the example that I posted. I do acknowledge that it isn’t an accurate example.
Basically my understanding is that pages with the pending changes protection allow edits from new users and IP addresses. However, such edits are to be reviewed by reviewers. Edits containing vandalism, violating copyright, containing inappropriate language or do not adhere to the WP:BLP policy should be rejected. I understand that reviewers do not need to check for content accuracy, but can choose to reject the edit if they are blatantly incorrect, as illustrated in the edit I posted.
Examples from the review queue: this is an edit that I would reject while this is an edit that I would approve. I hope this makes it clearer, thanks. Wpeneditor (talk) 06:55, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for that feedback, that does encourage me. I'm still concerned though and I'll solicit the opinion of other admins at this point, but I find a Cut & Paste move bright-line issue for me. That and I can't get much of handle on how you do with reverting other content as your mostly adding, which isn't a bad thing. My big one that I look for is understanding of the BLP policy, and I can't find much. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 07:08, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DeltaQuad: Thanks again for your reply. I do understand the importance of WP:BLP as Wikipedia should be as reliable as possible. As such, I take great care in editing articles by finding reliable sources before adding information and maintain neutrality. This is evident from most of my edits, such as this and this. One such example of an edit on living persons is this one. Regarding, the “Cut & Paste” issue, I realized that it was an oversight and immediately tagged another page that I “Cut & Paste”-moved so that it could be rectified. Apart from that, I do understand most content editing policies on Wikipedia. So, I hope my request can be considered, thanks! Wpeneditor (talk) 08:06, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have been a member of wikipedia for 2 years now. I have been editing regularly and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I am familiar with what vandalism is and what is unacceptable in wiki articles. One example of vandalism I have come across is in Riverview_High_School_(Pennsylvania) where IP users made multiple malicious edits to the page. I also know that wiki articles must be neutral in POV, contain no original research, and have reliable sources. I would like to request Pending Changes Permissions so I am able to review edits made to protected pages by IPs and new users. I would review edits and accept them if they are not in violation of any policy or decline them if they do. If I am declining an edit for a breach of the basic policies, I would leave a message on the talk page of the user so they know why I declined the edit. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them. FigfiresSend me a message! 13:35, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: About my pages created (the deleted ones)... I nominated 14/15 of them for deletion myself as there was simply not enough content for pages. FigfiresSend me a message! 13:40, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
