@DeltaQuad: Thanks for the question DQ. Most of my edits have been geared towards remedying tagged issues on microbiology-related pages. However, now that I'm a few thousand edits in, I'm starting to branch out some. As previously mentioned, I've done a small amount of patrolling where I think I showed I can make some small changes and interact with newbies in a fairly friendly manner (e.g. see Hannibal Square Heritage Center and creating-user's page). Most patrols were fairly straightforward, but I've previously done plenty of page cleanup (e.g. Autodisplay, which was at AFC and brought to my attention here; plus a smattering of other examples of general cleanups: 1, 2, 3). I've also made several page moves without incident, and dabbled in AfD (e.g. 1 and 2). Most importantly, my interactions with other users have always been very cordial and without issue (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and more). I understand that you'd like to keep standards high for NPP and that it is an important process. But I think even a relative newcomer like myself can contribute positively here and help chip away at the fairly-massive NPP backlog. information Administrator note Topher385 I don't think you hit the "grandfathering" list (200 uncontested patrols between 20160101 and 20161006 - we are working on some possible problems with logs; if you think you do have this many please leave me a talk message). I have been patrolling new pages since at least 2012. I have made over 10,000 edits and have experience and am familiar with the activity, I naturally wasn't grandfathered the right for I made at least 200 uncontested patrols between 1 January 2016 and 6 October 2016. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 22:21, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[sigh...] I'm requesting this as I'm long-time trustworthy editor that doesn't want to lose the right to be able to see the "[Mark this page as patrolled]" link, as I occasionally "manually" patrol new pages in the course of my editing. Let me be clear – I have no intention of becoming a New Page Patrol "regular" (I do sometimes check the New Pages list, but not very often...), nor do I intend to use Page Curation. But we shouldn't be removing the ability to "spot-check" new articles from long-time regular editors, esp. those of us who occasionally come across new articles as part of our work for various WikiProjects (e.g. I sometimes come across new articles as part of WP:TV or WP:FILMBIO or even WP:TRAINS editing...). Anyway, I meet the qualification criteria, and I understand the "[Mark this page as patrolled]" link will soon be disappearing for the rest of us, so I'll go ahead and request this now. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 02:41, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have been marking new pages as patrolled for some time and have been an editor for over 10 years (96,000 edits, all manual) with autopatrolled, extended confirmed user, file mover, pending changes reviewer, and rollbacker user rights. I would like to continue doing this. Like User:IJBall (above). I don't want to lose the right to be able to see the "[Mark this page as patrolled]" link, as I also occasionally "manually" patrol new pages in the course of my editing, especially when checking new articles potentially related to WikiProject Opera.
