I am not interested in your input. Please consider this a warning that your unwanted contact and behavior is bordering on Harassment and Wikihounding. Please refrain from writing on my Talk page. Thank you. KamelTebaast 23:28, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kamel Tebaast: Ok then. I was only informing you of a discussion I thought you might be interested in. I tried not to imply that you were the subject of the investigation. Consider this my final interaction with you for the time being. (It's entirely possible that we may need to interact again for another reason, which is why I'm saying "for the time being.") I will, however, continue to comment in discussions in which both you and I are involved (such as the current ARBPIA discussion), as long as they are not on your talk page. -- Gestrid (talk) 00:37, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CU

Since you asked about this in ANI, CheckUser (CU) is an advanced user class that has the ability to access special technical information on users, such as browser, operating system, and IPs used. CU is helpful in linking socks to one another and finding additional accounts (called a "sleeper check"). It can't be used with IPs, however, due to privacy restrictions; also, CU data is not stored indefinitely. If we suspected any future accounts of being Sunilseth15 socks, we could report them to the soon-to-be-made SPI page. Hope this information is helpful!

Yes. They were soft-advised on their talk page a week ago that their user name was improper because it was a corporate name. I declined the draft. As you saw, they then improved the draft, and asked me on my talk page to re-review, and I said no. You might not have also seen that at this point I noticed that they had ignored the soft complaint about the user name, so I went ahead and filed a hard report, which appears to be what has gotten them blocked. They can still get unblocked by changing their user name, but will then have to make the paid editing disclosure. Some reviewers are willing to help paid editors improve their articles. I won't. What am I doing

What do you think I'm doing, I need you to explain now! — Preceding unsigned comment added by LuisSuazo300 (talkcontribs) 01:12, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This. Although, at the time I posted the warning, I didn't realize that was so long ago. The issue came up at ANI today, and I saw you hadn't been properly warned. I apologize for the late warning. That was entirely my fault, but you still should not personally attack other editors like that.
Also, I'd prefer that you not shout at me.

Is this person notable enough for wikipedia

Thank you for the quick response. Because I am not wikipedia savvy, understanding the qualifications for being considered "notable" are somewhat vague.....I will probably consider having a third party create a page fore her, but before I do (and probably spend $1000.00+), I'd like another third party to advise me as to whether or not Ashley Kidd (Wakesurfing) would be considered notable. My hope is that you would google her name (Ashley Kidd - she takes up the first three pages of any search), and give me your opinion as to whether or not she might make the cut. Thank you for your time and for your help.Donaldrkiddjr (talk) 16:50, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, Donaldrkiddjr, I would like to say that paying someone to create a page here is greatly discouraged. It's allowed, though, as long as the editor being paid properly discloses that they are, in fact, being paid. This is required under the Wikimedia Terms of Use, and can have legal ramifications if it isn't followed. Also, make sure the article isn't written like an advertisement, because it will then be speedily deleted.
As for notability, that really just boils down to whether or not your daughter has been covered in reliable sources. Wikipedia doesn't particularly care about (as an example) news coming directly from Company A's website, as it is obviously biased towards the company. What Wikipedia does care about is if reliable sources not connected to Company A report on what Company A has said. This establishes it as a notable subject.
I recommend that, because you are a new editor, you create the article using our Articles for Creation process, which allows you to create a draft of the article and have it reviewed by experienced editors before it "goes live." When a reviewing editor thinks the articles is ready, they'll make it "go live" and notify you that the article was approved.
Also, if you do end up paying someone to create the article, make sure it's someone who has experience with Wikipedia's policies and has created at least a few articles.
Again, I realize that this is a lot to take in, but it will result in an overall better article because of it.
-- Gestrid (talk) 17:20, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Thank you for breaking it down for me and making the process easier to understand. Wikipedia is my online source for everything, so no one appreciates it more than I do.Donaldrkiddjr (talk) 17:31, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gestrid has invited others to join the conversation here.
If your daughter has won a world championship in a recognised sport, then I think that warrants a Wikipedia article about her. There is a Wikipedia article Wakesurfing, which is encouraging. Videos of wakesurfing are much more interesting to watch than ones of, say, ballroom dancing – but that's just my irrelevant opinion. My concern was that all wakesurfing events seemed to be sponsored by a company called Centurion, so maybe it's a local thing. But then I found events in Montpellier and elsewhere outside the US. This convinces me it is a "real" sport, and Ashley won the 2016 Women's championship. Maproom (talk) 20:05, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Donaldrkiddjr, I echo Gestrid's words. Do not pay someone to write the article. Not only is it a waste of money, it actually tarnishes the subject's reputation. I've added another source and one more external link to the draft. I'm not using all the references available because it starts looking like cite kill, but suffice it to say, she receives coverage of her wins in Italy, most recently in France, as mentioned by Maproom and she's currently ranked Number 1 in the Competitive Wake Surf Association's World Rankings, more than 100 points above her nearest competitor. I am going to move this draft into article space as a stub. In my view it would be highly unlikely to be taken to an AfD and if it were, it would be highly likely to survive. That is all that's required of an AfC acceptance plus inline citations to independent sources for the claims made. Voceditenore (talk) 07:35, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Donaldrkiddjr: you could help to improve the draft Voceditenore is working on, by providing a picture of Ashley. The picture must have a copyright status acceptable to Wikipedia, which is most easily achieved if the person who takes the photograph (and therefore owns the copyright in it) uploads it to Wikimedia Commons as their "own work". Maproom (talk) 07:48, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Donaldrkiddjr, since you are Ashley's father, you could actually upload a picture you have of her that you took and claim it as your own work. -- Gestrid (talk) 14:14, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Who is We?

When an editor uses the first person plural pronoun "we", it is my usual assumption that they mean that they are speaking for their employer and are a paid editor. As you can see, that is what happened the time that you asked on my talk page. Thank you for asking. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:06, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. I didn't know the discussion had moved to the author's talk page, but I'm glad I was able to bring up that policy and clarify that for them. After I saw where they put their COI (the article itself), I moved it to the talk page of the article. -- Gestrid (talk) 04:13, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

CHAMBA CHUKH

Hi Gestrid,

I published the article titled <CHAMBA CHUKH>.

Chamba Chukh is an extremely distinctive regional specialty from a community in the Himalayas in North India, not representing any interest or brand.

It is a generations Old recipe of chilli preparation in the Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh India. The government of the state has officers training women's self help groups to promote this amazing tradition. Several food writers and bloggers have covered the topic and it is also being added to the government pages of the state soon.

I know of it as I work in the region with tea planters, makers, handicrafts etc on a regular basis and the CHAMBA CHUKH is an extremely well known and beloved tradition of the region.

Some blogs and publication citings for your reference:

As you nominated this page for deletion, i wanted to reach out and figure out a way to explain the importance and cultural significance of this Food.

Request you to suggest a path forward.

Regards,

Malory Towers

Greetings! I wanted to ask that if I can create the fourth and sixth series of Malory Towers books separately in Wikipedia as the other series have notable wikipedia pages, I was wondering if I could create them. Cheers! Amy2563 (talk) 18:19, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Amy2563! One of our many guidelines here on Wikipedia is to edit boldly, so feel free to create pages for anything you think is notable (in Wikipedia's special sense of the word)!
However, since you are a new user, I would recommend creating the articles through the Articles for Creation process so others can review your work and give you advice on what to do. All you need to do is click the button that says "Click here to create an article now!" and fill out the form. When you finish filling out the form, it will create a page in the draft "namespace" (meaning it will create a page called "Draft:ARTICLE NAME"). The page will already be partially filled out for you, including a button that will allow you to submit the draft for review when you're ready.
If, when you're editing your draft, you want some feedback on your draft without submitting your draft for review, you should post on my friend Robert McClenon's talk page. He's one of the Articles for Creation draft reviewers, and will likely be able to give you valuable feedback.

How do I replace links in my references? Many do not work and I want to update some with new links

Thank you for fixing that link Gestrid. I would like to replace several links with ones that have more significant and more relevant information. Also many do not work. I do not know how to switch them out. Would it be okay to provide you with a numbered list of replacements, or would it be better if you can just tell me what the steps are to switch them out I have read the instructions repeatedly and still can't figure it out. Someone else set up the page initially and they are no longer available to help me out. I also need to knoow what I can do to get this page accepted once all the new links are in position. Thank you very much for your help. YMARI — Preceding unsigned comment added by YMARI (talkcontribs) 18:12, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, YMARI. Our policy on dead links allow broken links to stay, provided {{Dead link}} is added to each one, which I have already done. As for inserting new references, I would recommend using our visual editor, which has a neat feature that allows it to automatically cite any link you put in it. It then puts the information into a reference correctly. (If needed, you can also put all the information in manually, and it'll still put the reference into the article.) For instructions on how to enable the visual editor, click here and read the small text under the large "Enable VisualEditor" link. After that, to use it, you just click on "Edit" (NOT "Edit soource") and it'll load it. I hope this answers all of your questions. -- Gestrid (talk) 20:10, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. Gestrid:

Reducing clutter. -- Gestrid (talk) 23:24, 31 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for helping me with the existing links and with the information for uploading new links. I will study everything and begin the process later today. Your note gives me the assurance that I can count on your guidance through this process. Thank you again.

These are more links of the 100s of links that show Mr. Rose as a notable and significant person.

We will be editing the indicated links as soon as possible. Hopefully you will be able to help me move the Tony Rose page out of the draft section and into a live page status very soon.
