  • Comment: Article is still overly promotional. See previous discussion. Andrew327 17:30, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Comment: This is still written in promotional marketing jargon: "The company offers an in-market opportunity for advertisers to better understand consumer behavior across multiple-devices" is corporate buzzwords, not objective facts that will help people a century in the future to understand what a company did and how it impacted the world. Please review WP:Conflict of interest. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:29, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment: Hi. Please keep it as boring as possible. Words like "leading" "adament" "breakthrough" are so promotional! And even just having an external link in the first sentence of the lead for the title of the article is too. We know that Wikipedia is a big popular website and everyone wants to be on it - but, we are an encyclopedia, not a promotional website. Facebook is really good for promoting one's brand. So, keep it encyclopedic and super boring. Thank you. SarahStierch (talk) 01:00, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Tapad Inc., is a unified, cross-device marketing technology firm. The company's technology allows content, such as advertising, to be sent to in a unified way to consumers across their multiple devices including smartphones, tablets, home computers, gaming consoles and smart TVs. Tapad is backed by major venture firms and services Fortune 500 brands from multiple industries including, travel, insurance, finance and retail.[1] Tapad is based in New York and has offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami and San Francisco.

History

Tapad was founded in 2010 by Are Traasdahl, an entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in mobile and digital content. He is a frequent contributor on mobile advertising technology for outlets such as CNBC and Bloomberg News, and he has been featured in Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, Ad Age and other news outlets.[2][3][4][5][6] Traasdahl also currently holds several board positions and heads Spring Capital, an investment holding company. Prior to Tapad, he founded Thumbplay, a mobile entertainment service. Thumbplay grew to more than $100 million in revenues in less than 3 years before he exited the company (the company, later acquired by Clear Channel, is now called iHeartRadio)..[7] Traasdahl was previously a senior executive with Telenor Group, an international provider of telecom, data and media communications services.

Today, Tapad works with 140 Fortune 500 brands and currently serves 2 billion ads each month across 18,000 online and mobile publishers. They saw $1.2 Million in sales in 2011, $8.2 Million in 2012 and are currently on track to profit $25 Million in 2013.[8] Sources close to the company have pegged the valuation at $140 Million.[9]

Technology

Tapad provides technology that serves ads to targeted consumers using an algorithm that crunches large amounts of data to deliver a high probability that devices are related, helping give advertisers a fuller understanding of their desired consumer.

Privacy

Tapad’s technology provides notice and a first-to-market opt-out, ensures data security, never targets children and does not access Personally Identifiable Information (PII).[10] [11] Tapad also partners with both Evidon and TRUSTe. Recent integrations now allow for an in-app opt-out on mobile devices.[12][13]
