- 1921 - The Emergency Quota Act passed the United States Congress establishing national quotas on immigration to the United States.
- 1925 - Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) is born, as Malcolm Little. He would go on to become a prominent leader of disaffected blacks in the United States in the 1950s and 60s
