Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Priyanka Gandhi → Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (currently a redirect back to Priyanka Gandhi) (move · discuss) – Almost all reliable news sources in India and abroad - and her own social media profiles use the name Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She also uses it in her campaign material. Using her maiden name does not make sense for consistency in the article aswell. Rushtheeditor (talk) 23:56, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- There was a move discussion concerning the titles five years ago, in addition, there are some sources which refer to the former title and other to the latter title, so the common name is disputed. ToadetteEdit (talk) 06:18, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- But the source herself prefers to be called Gandhi Vadra. This is evident in all of her campaign materials. Her name discussion years ago is void as she wasn't in active politics then - and now will be a much more prominent figure as an MP. Her common name according to herself should be used to respect her decision. Rushtheeditor (talk) 23:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Rushtheeditor: That's the sort of argument that should be made in a full requested-move discussion, not a technical request. jlwoodwa (talk) 05:28, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

- Snooze (SZA song) → Snooze (song) (currently a redirect instead to Snooze) (move · discuss) – Snooze (Agust D song) is non-notable. The disambiguation is unnecessary where a hatnote will suffice. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 23:22, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- If the song is non-notable like you claim, then nominate it for deletion (though the song likely meets the notability guidelines for WP:NSONG). Otherwise there's really no reason to only partially disambiguate two "Snooze" songs; if we need to disambiguate then we might as well go the whole way. RachelTensions (talk) 01:59, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think this request is justified. The Agust D song made the charts so it's notable (a little). Leave both song pages as they are, but the current Snooze (song) redirect could probably be transformed into a disambig page that points to both of the songs. See also the current Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Snooze (Agust D song), which might end in a keep but it's too soon to tell as I type this. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:28, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Vinga, Romania (currently a redirect to Vinga, Arad) → Vinga, Arad (move · discuss) – Every other article needing disambiguation in Category:Communes in Arad County is in the “Name, Arad” format. No reason to make an exception here. Biruitorul Talk 20:42, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- WP:PLACEDAB asks us to use the country to disambiguate. More specific disambiguation is sometimes required if there is more than one place in a country known by that name. That is not the case for Vinga. 162 etc. (talk) 20:56, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Biruitorul Based on the above, this will need a discussion to move forward. If you wish, click the "discuss" button above, fill in your rationale and submit, or you can remove this thread if you change your mind. ASUKITE 21:45, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
- Vishnugupta (Gupta Empire) → Vishnugupta (move · discuss) – Unnecessary; no other article called Vishnugupta exists. PadFoot (talk) 09:43, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- @PadFoot2008 That doesn't mean there is a primary topic. C F A 15:37, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Visakhapatnam railway station → Visakhapatnam Junction railway station (currently a redirect back to Visakhapatnam railway station) (move · discuss) – Visakhapatnam Junction is the common and official name of the railway station. Already there is a article existing with the latter name (Visakhapatnam Junction), so unable to move the page from Visakhapatnam railway station to Visakhapatnam Junction railway station Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 16:29, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- There are some sources that still mention the name as the former title, and there seems to ne by a recent rename. ToadetteEdit (talk) 19:23, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Von der Leyen Commission I → Von der Leyen Commission (move) – Neither sources nor the article mention I for this commision. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 15:25, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Bunnypranav: Do you want to overwrite the disambiguation page? I don't think there is a primary topic between them. C F A 03:01, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Bunnypranav The article was moved to make space for a new DAB, which seems appropriate in this case as there's unlikely to be a primary. Though I will concede that the natural disambiguation of I and II may be a bit unusual, maybe WP:PARENTHETICAL of (1st term) and (2nd term) would be more appropriate? Might require an RM for both articles together though to seek more editor input. Raladic (talk) 03:05, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Raladic @CFA Please overwritethe dab page. No sources mention the primary name to be I commission. After reading the article it is clear that only the successor is called II, the older commission is not called I. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think this warrants a discussion. C F A 12:18, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

- Lidia Gueiler → Lydia Gueiler (currently a redirect back to Lidia Gueiler) (move · discuss) – "Y" spelling seems to be the one used by Gueiler. It's reflected in presidential decrees during her presidency, in authored works, and in her authorized biography. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 02:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC) Krisgabwoosh (talk) 02:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- This would warrant a full discussion because it seems like "Lidia" is the WP:COMMONNAME in English-language sources: The New York Times, BBC, The Independent, The Washington Post, The Times, Los Angeles Times, El Pais, Reuters, Encyclopædia Britannica, Bolivian Express, United Press International, etc., as well as numerous books and academic sources. RachelTensions (talk) 05:33, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- e& (currently a redirect to Etisalat) → Etisalat (move · discuss) – Per WP:COMMONNAME, Etisalat is the most commonly used name, seen inthis article title, this, and this. They changed their name from Etisalat to e& in 2022 but Etisalat remainds the most commonly used name, like how Twitter remains so instead of being renamed to X. jolielover♥talk 04:14, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

- I moved this article, although as an uncontested request per this discussion, via RM. You may want to open a new RM. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 05:53, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Per above, please open another move discussion concerning the titles. ToadetteEdit (talk) 08:01, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
