Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by CFA (talk | contribs) at 12:18, 3 December 2024 (Contested technical requests: Reply). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

Article that needs to be moved; Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo, to "Post and Telecom of Kosovo". Reason: Telecom means (sq;Telekomi). Telecommunication means (sq; telekomunikimi)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests

I don't think this request is justified. The Agust D song made the charts so it's notable (a little). Leave both song pages as they are, but the current Snooze (song) redirect could probably be transformed into a disambig page that points to both of the songs. See also the current Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Snooze (Agust D song), which might end in a keep but it's too soon to tell as I type this. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:28, 30 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Biruitorul Based on the above, this will need a discussion to move forward. If you wish, click the "discuss" button above, fill in your rationale and submit, or you can remove this thread if you change your mind. ASUKITE 21:45, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PadFoot2008 That doesn't mean there is a primary topic. C F A 15:37, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are some sources that still mention the name as the former title, and there seems to ne by a recent rename. ToadetteEdit (talk) 19:23, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bunnypranav: Do you want to overwrite the disambiguation page? I don't think there is a primary topic between them. C F A 03:01, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bunnypranav The article was moved to make space for a new DAB, which seems appropriate in this case as there's unlikely to be a primary. Though I will concede that the natural disambiguation of I and II may be a bit unusual, maybe WP:PARENTHETICAL of (1st term) and (2nd term) would be more appropriate? Might require an RM for both articles together though to seek more editor input. Raladic (talk) 03:05, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Raladic @CFA Please overwritethe dab page. No sources mention the primary name to be I commission. After reading the article it is clear that only the successor is called II, the older commission is not called I. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 10:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think this warrants a discussion. C F A 12:18, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
