Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Non-abelian group → Non-Abelian group (currently a redirect back to Non-abelian group) (move · discuss) – based on proper name Niels Henrik Abel; sources use capitaliazation. Johnjbarton (talk) 18:48, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Abelian and non-abelian are clearly treated as common-noun adjectives in either a majority or an equal number of sources: [1][2] — Amakuru (talk) 19:37, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree they are both represented, but the tie breaker is the man's name. Johnjbarton (talk) 23:13, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

- 1948 Palestine war → 1948 Palestine War (currently a redirect back to 1948 Palestine war) (move · discuss) – Like 1948 Arab–Israeli War, Korean War, Iraq War Lucjim (talk) 19:17, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Aleut (currently a redirect to Aleuts) → Aleuts (move · discuss) – Name already in article. Like Catalans, Romanians, Ukrainians. Lucjim (talk) 19:29, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- There's been discussion of the name before, so this is a WP:PCM. -Kj cheetham (talk) 19:33, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Division station (CTA Blue Line) → Division station (currently a redirect instead to Division) (move · discuss) – WP:MISPLACED JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 05:58, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- There are also two defunct stations Division station (CTA Logan Square branch) and Division station (CTA North Side Main Line). The redirect used to point to the dab page Division#Places. BegbertBiggs (talk) 13:35, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- I think the Blue Line station, as it's the only one still in service, should be considered the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 16:20, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

- 3 Godfathers (1948 film) (currently a redirect to 3 Godfathers) → 3 Godfathers (move · discuss) – WP:MISPLACED JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 02:50, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. Although 3 Godfathers does currently redirect to 3 Godfathers (1948 film), that redirect should actually point to The Three Godfathers disambiguation page. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:51, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Exactly this. Ambiguous with Three Godfathers (1936 film). 162 etc. (talk) 17:31, 22 December 2023 (UTC)

- Khalid ibn al-Walid → Khalid ibn al-Waleed (currently a redirect back to Khalid ibn al-Walid) (move · discuss) – the word Walid has a completely different meaning, it means father, the correct spelling is al-Waleed or al-Walīd Quirk1 (talk) 07:56, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Quirk1: please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Arabic: "al-Walid" is fully in line with the 'basic transcription' used throughout Wikipedia for Arabic article titles. What we call 'full transliteration' (which would be "al-Walīd" according to Wikipedia's standards, never "al-Waleed") is usually only reserved for the first mention in the lead. The origins of this accepted practice may be found in that Wikipedians generally dislike special characters in article titles (cf. WP:TITLESPECIALCHARACTERS), and so decided to dispense in article titles not only with stuff like ʿ for ʿayn but with all special formatting found in 'full transliteration'. ☿ Apaugasma (talk ☉) 15:24, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
