Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- You're Gonna Miss Me (song) → You're Gonna Miss Me (move · discuss) – Song is more notable than You're Gonna Miss Me (film). Jax 0677 (talk) 03:09, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure if the song is more notable than the film, because the film received an award nomination. The film's article makes the film look less notable but it could be improved. Also there is a song of the same title at Connie's Greatest Hits which could be a search term. I recommend that the namespace for You're Gonna Miss Me be transformed into a disambig page for navigating to all three items. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:59, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

- @Cinderella157: Looking at the related category, I think instead that Indo-Pakistani war of 1947–1948 should be made caps instead of making those two nocaps. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:01, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- I think the downcasing is fine. I have to say as a more general point I'm not wild about this naming pattern in general. I think the modern trend is towards using simple country names rather than this Indo- Russo- Sino- business, which some readers may not be so familiar with. And also putting the year first as per WP:NCE. So if I were God of the Wiki I might call this 1965 India–Pakistan war. Cinderella's proposals are still a small step in the right direction though. — Amakuru (talk) 14:34, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- UtherSRG, sources do not support that Indo-Pakistani war (any of the three) come near meeting the threshold set by MOS:CAPS to be capitalised. Cinderella157 (talk) 14:38, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- Then we should also have the category moves. - UtherSRG (talk) 15:04, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

- Stephen Kirk (handballer) (currently a redirect to Stephen Kirk) → Stephen Kirk (move · discuss) – Steve Kirk (disambiguation) currently lists only two articles: Steve Kirk and Stephen Kirk (handballer). Rather than using a pointless disambiguation page, it'd be much better to move Stephen Kirk (handballer) to Stephen Kirk and add an {{about}} hatnote for each article saying "For the footballer/handballer, see Steve/Stephen Kirk". - PK-WIKI, overall, sources only capitalise it about 50% of the time. It comes nowhere near the threshold for caitalisation per MOS:CAPS (and WP:NCCAPS). Cinderella157 (talk) 10:13, 20 December 2023 (UTC) PK-WIKI fix failed ping. Cinderella157 (talk) 11:47, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

- Terrell Bynum (American football) → Terrell Bynum (move · discuss) – Currently, "Terrell Bynum" redirects to a disambiguation page between the football player and Terrell Ward Bynum, a philosopher. In December, the philosopher has gotten 24 pageviews to the football player's 271, an average of 13 per day. A quick Google search also produces results just for the football player, not the philosopher. The football player should have the non-disambiguated name, and the disambiguation page should get "(disambiguation)" added to its name, if not deleted entirely --- it only has these two pages. A hat note can be be applied to both. Debartolo2917 (talk) 02:23, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Debartolo2917: I'll contest this. Terrell Bynum (American football) became a professional football player this year, and the article was created a month ago. More time or stronger evidence is needed to conclude that there is a primary topic. See WP:PT2 ("substantially greater enduring notability and educational value"), WP:NOPT, WP:RECENTISM.
