Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Alex Phillips (Green politician) → Alex Phillips (politician) (currently a redirect instead to Alex Phillips) (move · discuss) – "Green" no longer necessary in disambiguation as "Alex Phillips (Brexit Party politician)" was moved to "Alex Phillips (TV presenter)" in May 2022. Santiago Claudio (talk) 01:28, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Draft:List of independent English whisky distilleries is invalid. Must create Draft:List of independent English whisky distilleries before requesting that it be moved to Template:List of independent English whisky distilleries.– I have attempted a move and it has become muddled, I cannot do a simple move ChefBear01 (talk) 22:22, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Draft:Te Rau Aroha Museum is invalid. Must create Draft:Te Rau Aroha Museum before requesting that it be moved to Te Rau Aroha Museum. —Panamitsu (talk) 01:28, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Bamboo Curtain (currently a redirect to Bamboo curtain) → Bamboo curtain (move · discuss) – per MOSCAPS Primergrey (talk) 07:52, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Broad Front for Mexico (currently a redirect to Fuerza y Corazón por México) → Fuerza y Corazón por México (move) – Name of the coalition for the 2024 elections. Also in native Spanish, as in the case of the officialist coalition Alejocat19 (talk) 19:17, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- DOS (disambiguation) (currently a redirect to Dos) → Dos (move · discuss) – Dos already redirects to DOS (disambiguation), and the term dos is not necessarily an acronym. There is no need to keep this unnecessarily long and misleading title. –CopperyMarrow15 (talk | edits) Feel free to ping me! 19:25, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- David Shayler (currently a redirect to Delores Kane) → Delores Kane (move · discuss) – Transgender individual is now living as a woman named Delores Kane. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vadeshex (talk • contribs) 19:54, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Azerbaijan (Iran) → Azerbaijan, Iran (currently a redirect back to Azerbaijan (Iran)) (move · discuss) – According to WP:NCGN, a comma is used before geographic disambiguators (in this case "Iran"). Aintabli (talk) 00:30, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
- Football club (association football) → Football club (currently a redirect back to Football club (association football)) (move · discuss) – this may need no disabiguation as it it is mostly the WP:COMMONNAME. Intrisit (talk) 01:03, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- I highly doubt this is uncontroversial... currently, like its parent article Football, Football club is effectively a catch-all for the various different codes such as association football, rugby, Aussie rules, American etc. Can we really definitively say that the term "football club" has the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of Association football? I'm sceptical myself and would lean against making this move. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:09, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- Advanced Traffic Management System → Advanced traffic management system (currently a redirect instead to Active traffic management) (move · discuss) – per MOSCAPS Primergrey (talk) 10:05, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- Advanced traffic management system has history which was previously merged into Active traffic management. I think the same should take place with the Advanced Traffic Management System page - merge it into the consolidated article. There is no need for separate pages on largely the same topic. — Amakuru (talk) 11:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
- The MOS:CAPS / MOS:FIELD point remains valid. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:35, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- No it doesn't. Fiddling around with a pre-existing stable merged redirect, just because there's yet another fork of the same topic at a silly capitalised title is not a productive thing to do. The article Advanced Traffic Management System should be merged in the same way that Advanced traffic management system was, and until that happens, it might as well remain where it is. — Amakuru (talk) 15:50, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- It's an article, and it's title is not styled properly. Therefore, it should be moved. Who will merge it? And when? Those questions shouldn't hold up this process. Primergrey (talk) 01:40, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- It's not an article, it's an out of process fork of an article which has been deleted and merged. If you want to undelete the merged article then go through the properp processes rather than trying to force a separate page on to the same space. — Amakuru (talk) 08:51, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- You're telling me that Advanced Traffic Management System isn't an article? Whatever. Primergrey (talk) 02:01, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

- Cruveilhier–Baumgarten disease → Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome (currently a redirect back to Cruveilhier–Baumgarten disease) (move · discuss) – Cruveilhier–Baumgarten disease is a subtype of Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome. I do not feel as though there is enough information on Cruveilhier–Baumgarten disease to make a separate article. Instead, I believe it would make more sense to create a page for Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome and include info on Cruveilhier-Baumgarten disease as a subtopic. CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath (talk) 19:29, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath - This should probably be a Talk page discussion on the merits of splitting the current article and/or rewriting it to differentiate between the disease and the syndrome. Changing the article title per your request would not address the underlying confusion. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 20:29, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Doomsdayer520: Thank you for the input! I'm just wondering, what would be the best way to go about this? The only issue with starting a talk page discussion is that the page hasn't really had any significant edits since 2019 and isn't very popular so i doubt anyone would reply. Should I propose a merge (can you even do that for a redirect page), or should i revert the redirect and make a page for Cruveilhier-Baumgarten syndrome? I'm still quite new to this and the processes of merging, moving or deleting pages is very confusing for me so any input would be appreciated! 23:56, 21 November 2023 (UTC) CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath (talk) 23:56, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath - Consider asking for advice on how to cover the condition at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. They may have standards on how to handle a syndrome vs. disease with the same background like this, either in two articles or in a strategically written single article. That seems like an active project and they have problably dealt with this kind of thing before. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:19, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
