Page mover

My page mover trial is expiring in ~1 month and I’d like to have it extended indef so I can continue handling Requested Moves/Technical requests and it often helps with some of my NPP activities such as backlog drive coordination and draftifications. I was active for most of the start of my trial however I took a wiki break for a few reasons and holidaying but I’m back mostly active again. I would note that @Zippybonzo is no longer involved in new pages patrol coordination as their request states. - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 (𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 16:41, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

(non-admin comment) @Zippybonzo: Rather than indefinite extension, I would suggest that another trial period is needed until you are more familiar with WP:PMR.

  • From looking at your contributions at RM/TR and your moves, I don't think you are aware of WP:ROUNDROBIN swaps. Of your 22 contribs at RM/TR, 12 were moving requests to "administrator needed". Yet those 12 don't appear to have required an admin, just a round-robin swap. (They weren't move-protected/full-protected/salted, which is pretty much the only time an admin is required.)
  • By my count, you have used supressredirect 11 times: 5 times for draftifying, 4 times for NPP/CVUA stuff, and 2 times when self-reverting moves. (Your move log also includes 5 moves of mass-message lists that show as "without leaving a redirect", but that is instead because MMS lists always move without redirects.)
  • It would also be helpful to have more experience with RMs if you want to help more at RM/TR. I believe you have closed 2 RMs (here and here – the latter of which you reopened after a request), commented on 1 RM, and relisted 9. Part of helping out at RM/TR well is determining whether the requests are potentially controversial (though, of course, mistakes happen). The two self-reverted moves mentioned above were instances where you moved a page per an RM/TR request without apparently checking the article first.

I'd like to help out more at RM and RM/TR; closing discussions and filling technical requests – most of the time I can't because it requires moving over a redirect. Page mover rights would also allow me to draftify articles (something I frequently do for NPP) without leaving cross-namespace redirects. The right would also allow me to assist at CfD, as I would then be able to close requests or discussion involving category renaming (moving).

I have well over 3000 edits and over a year of experience on Wikipedia. Thank-you for considering my request, Edward-Woodrow :) [talk] 21:47, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Edward-Woodrow: The vast majority of your moves are incubation and you have no edits to RM/TR as far as I can see. Also, several of your CfD edits are "per nom" votes. Could you clarify why you're seeking this perm at this time? Anarchyte (talk) 12:04, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Anarchyte: I would like to help close requested moves, CfD discussions, and draftify articles without leaving cross-namespace redirects. I see nothing erong with "per nom" !votes; sometimes the nominator has said all there is to say. If you think I need more experience at RM/CfD, I am happy to come back later. Edward-Woodrowtalk 12:22, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Edward-Woodrow: Could you spend a couple weeks combing through requested moves to gain some experience there and then return here after? I'm not comfortable granting when you intend on working in an area you have no experience in. I'm not doubting your incubations. As for CfD, I was just meaning that it can be difficult to properly gauge understanding of the related processes/guidelines when the votes aren't substantive. Anarchyte (talk) 12:58, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Anarchyte: That makes sense, thanks. Edward-Woodrowtalk 19:36, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Not done (for the bot). Anarchyte (talk) 08:17, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've recently been desysoped. I need to reapply for some permissions I'm qualified for but are bundled with the admin rights I've lost. This is one I think. Still figuring out what other rights are normal at my editing level. Thank you. Cheers, Mark Ironie (talk) 01:50, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Mark Ironie: You have not moved a page since 2019. Do you think you would use this perm? Anarchyte (talk) 04:46, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And "recently desysoped" is a reason for caution here. This is not a user bit that is "qualified for" by tenure, or "normal at [anyone's] editing level"; it's a near-administrative bit for particular kinds of technical work, not a hat to re-collect.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  13:01, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently nearing the end of my three month trial and would like to extend the right. I use it exclusively for NPP work, sending problematic/unsourced articles to draft without leaving redirects hanging around, and have no current reason or desire to use the right for other more technical moves.  Done. Only saw one move in my checks that gave me pause (Panhwar (tribe) -- though I didn't dig too deep for info), so I'm granting indef. Anarchyte (talk) 10:04, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
