Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by UtherSRG (talk | contribs) at 13:59, 25 August 2023 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests: Reply). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Uncontroversial technical requests

Kolmeweet sources were more or less consistent with the usage of dash in the corporation's name. See WP:OFFICIAL. If you can find other more recent sources without the dash in the name, I suggest raising a Move Request discussion. – robertsky (talk) 08:36, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On second look, it seems that the styling by sources is inconsistent. I will leave it to the others to evaluate if this should be moved uncontested. – robertsky (talk) 12:34, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@GeographicAccountant: No need for the disambiguation. See various Zambia geo location categories. This is a WP:PCM. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. Thanks! - UtherSRG (talk) 13:59, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

Contested technical requests

Really the only one ever? In ictu oculi (talk) 13:32, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@In ictu oculi: - it's certainly the only with by this name with a Wiki page. "Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs" currently redirects to "Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (South Korea)" so the parentheses are not needed. McPhail (talk) 12:06, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@The Doom Patrol: This is not an uncontroversial request due to the two previous RMs held over this page. If you wish to continue with your request, click the discuss link in your request to begin a formal WP:RM discussion. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. – MaterialWorks 20:03, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's per MOS:INITIALS. No R. v R discussion on previous RMs. Let an admin decide.--The Doom Patrol (talk) 11:31, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
