Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Raydann (talk | contribs) at 10:20, 15 March 2023 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests: + request). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Given the switcharoo of titles in 2015/16 between the two titles here, This might be potentially contested, please open a discussion on this. WP:PCM – robertsky (talk) 05:29, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Eddie Izzard  Suzy Izzard (currently a redirect back to Eddie Izzard) (move · discuss) – Suzy is a trans comedian, actor, and activist, who recently changed her name. MOS:DEADNAME would apply to the article title. I'd move it myself, but the article is administrator move protected. Sideswipe9th (talk) 20:42, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Judging by the talkpage this would not be an uncontroversial move and a full RM may be required. I'm not objecting just commenting. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 23:24, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    This is clearly WP:PCM so a WP:RM is required. I'm not objecting either though. -Kj cheetham (talk) 08:44, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Moving to the contested area as this can not be moved via RM/TR, but I would support the move via RM discussion - UtherSRG (talk) 14:14, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    She has stated that she will still use "Eddie Izzard" as her public name, so the current article at the WP:COMMONNAME of Eddie Izzard that clarifies in the first sentence that her full name is "Suzy Eddie Izzard" is just fine (especially since there is nothing gendered about the name "Eddie"). --Ahecht (TALK
