Rollback

I have been on Wikipedia for quite some time and actively trying to make this a better space. My fields of interest have been majorly history and I have done much work on pages like Mariam-uz-Zamani, and Khusrao Mirza while trying to protect pages relating to historic figures against vandalism. There are a ginormous amount of pages that are subjected to vandalism frequently however manually my bandwidth decreases to restore them to their references and correct piece of information. I would for this very purpose, to protect such pages against vandalism, would like to be granted access to the rollback. Thank you Nush1125 (talk) 20:15, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Rollback is only granted to experienced anti-vandalism workers who have already demonstrated that they are capable of using it properly, sorry. ~Swarm~ {sting} 16:48, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to act as per Wikipedia's policies against vandalism and sock puppetry. If administrators consider me worthy of granting these rights, I will be grateful.-- Satrar (talk) 21:24, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Satrar. Well, you do have a quite convincing use-case for it. However, please be careful. You may be wrong about someone being a sock, so please remember not to perform such mass reverts until an investigation has been closed. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:15, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am requesting the permission for rollback as it would make contributing to Wikipedia in the aspect of reverting vandalism a lot less difficult. Thank you. BlueNoise (talk) 22:09, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have been working to revert vandalism for some time now, mostly patrolling Recent changes. I have used Twinkle and RedWarn to revert vandalism and warn vandals. Rollback rights would make it easier for me to revert obvious vandalism. Blazin777 (talk) 00:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I frequently go on recent changes patrols and practice anti-vandalism. It would be very helpful to have rollback as it would streamline the process of reverting vandalism. I plan on join the CVU mentorship program. Toast (talk) 17:46, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I seek to continue my increasing involvement with Wikipedia and, in particular, countering vandalism.--IndyNotes (talk) 14:38, 6 October 2022 (UTC) IndyNotes (talk) 14:38, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Rollback is given to existing anti-vandalism patrollers who have demonstrated competence. If you would like to get involved, see WP:CVU. ~Swarm~ {sting} 16:54, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have started reverting vandalism since April 2022. As I plan on continuing to have faster tools to revert, such as rb, tw, and rw, I wish to have rb for faster revert times and so I can continue to do good things to Wikipedia as a whole. Wesoree (Talk) 17:53, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have a history of reverting vandalism using Twinkle and am familiar with all the associated guidelines. I believe this tool would help me in the process. Thank you so much. AdmiralAckbar1977 (talk) 17:51, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have been active on the site for more than seven months and edit often, with one of my main interests in pages relating to East Africa such as for Somalia and Somaliland. While not very common, edits adding large amounts of uncited information and sometimes just plain vandalism does occur, and having rollback rights in these specific cases would be useful. Johnson524 (Talk!) 04:36, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Johnson524:  Not done. In looking over your contributions, I saw almost no edits that rollback would have helped with, since the permission is primarily useful for people who do fast-paced countervandalism. Since it doesn't allow you to supply an explanatory edit summary (at least not by default), the tool isn't suitable for reverting inappropriate good-faith edits. If you are simply looking for a more convenient reverting method, I would suggest using twinkle – it's both far quicker than the undo button and far more flexible than rollback since it allows you to supply custom summaries and send templated messages to users (along with a bunch of other functionality that isn't reversion-related but might still come in handy). Happy editing, --Blablubbs (talk) 08:30, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blablubbs: Thank you for taking the time to process this, I will keep in mind what you said. Cheers, Johnson524 (Talk!) 11:21, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have been helping with recent pages patrol using Twinkle and undo for a bit now, and I believe I have had enough experience with it to start using rollback with tools like Huggle. I understand all the guidelines surrounding Vandalism, Reverting, Recent changes and Rollback, and I think I have been able to handle troubling situations well. If I could be granted this permission, I would be extremely grateful! Thanks. echidnaLives (talk) 07:08, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I often try to remove vandalism and find that it is part of a series of bad edits, so I leave it for someone with rollback to fix. I would like to fix these edits myself. Roundishtc) 22:04, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've had over 7000 edits, 3000+ in mainspace, and have been an active vandalism reverter pretty much since day one (in fact, most of my edits are vandalism reverting). Having rollback would expand my vandalism fighting activities. LilianaUwU (talk / contribs) 02:26, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I applied at the suggestion of a user, that this tool helps with reverting vandalism, thus help me it would. ButterCashier (talk) 09:37, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have been reviewing pending changes for roughly a year and have been frequenting recent changes for a while now (although bots and vigilant editors often beat me to it). With almost 10 years on the project (most active in the last three) and over 5,000 edits under my belt, I'd venture to say that I have a sufficient grasp of our policies and guidelines to be trusted with the user right. Expanding my toolset with rollback would help me contribute more efficiently, and I will be sure to utilize it responsibly. Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 13:00, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to apply for the Rollback permission on the basis of my heavy involvement in patrolling recent changes. Most of my edits in the main space are counter-vandalism, and I can recall some instances where being able to rollback would have been convenient (when I need to rapidly revert vandalism). I have read and understand the guidelines and policies for this permission. PolyversialMind (talk) 13:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
