City, not district

This article must be about the city, but 95% of the info is in fact about the district (that has its own article separately).--88.19.49.50 (talk) 13:34, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maharashtra Government has officially renamed Osmanabad as Dharashiv Loleya7829 (talk) 04:54, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In Wikipedia, an article title is a natural-language word or expression that indicates the subject of the article; as such, the article title is usually the name of the person, or of the place, or of whatever else the topic of the article is. However, some topics have multiple names, and some names have multiple topics; this can lead to disagreement about which name should be used for a given article's title. Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used, as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources. See WP:COMMONNAME.-- Toddy1 (talk) 07:00, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add Dharashiv District information Website Link in External Sources of this page. PritamSonone143 (talk) 11:42, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no need. There is already a link to the district website in the infobox. The link works correctly.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:35, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Move Request

Requested move 3 July 2022

OsmanabadDharashiv – The name is officially changed by the government of Maharashtra recently. It is also an ancient name with a relatively secular and peaceful history than the last name. ShresthaShome.Ullas (talk) 18:31, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The decision was only published on 29 June 2022. It is far too soon to know whether the new name for Osmanabad will be generally used. For the present, most sources use Osmanabad (WP:COMMONNAME). Sources reporting the government decision to rename Osmanabad are not evidence that Dharashiv has become the commonly-used English-language name.-- Toddy1 (talk) 11:52, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Support. Dharashiv is a very old name. Used by locals since always. Osmanabad was just official name. It is changed. And nobody opposed or found anything different. Osmanabad is not a very important city of India. Outsiders won't be impacted due to the name change. Osmanabad itself was not a very common or famous name/city that changing it will hurt anyone. Opposite can happen. If anybody searches for Dharashiv, they may not find it useful.
