Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Horndon-on-the-Hill → Horndon on the Hill (currently a redirect back to Horndon-on-the-Hill) (move · discuss) – Per the Ordnance Survey, also per Google Maps and City Population. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:39, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- This is not uncontroversial. The issue was raised on the talk page years ago, but nobody responded. --188.30.212.32 (talk) 19:26, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- KNX (FM) (currently a redirect to KNX-FM) → KNX-FM (move · discuss) – Per naming conventions, US radio station articles are titled at the exact current call sign when possible. This station is KNX-FM, and it has to be since there is a KNX (AM). (While KNX-FM is a past name, in two stints, for KCBS-FM, a hatnote already exists to lead readers in the right direction.) WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 23:41, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Wcquidditch: I have boldly acted to move the page history redirect to KNX-FM (merged) in order to clear the article title KNX-FM for use and moved that page. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 08:39, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Administrator needed
- Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (see this guide to which moves need administrators). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover's permissions.
Contested technical requests
- Vaughan → Vaughan, Ontario (currently a redirect back to Vaughan) (move · discuss) – First, to make a place entry consistent with all other "Vaughan" place entries; "Vaughan", Ontario, is not of the same status as Paris, Moscow, or London. Second, to free up "Vaughan" page for redirect to Vaughan (disambiguation) so that the (overwhelming majority of) users who come to Wikipedia seeking something with the name Vaughan in it other than Vaughan, Ontario, may be spared having to spelunk around the Vaughan, Ontario, page for a redirect to find what they are after. Wikiuser100 (talk) 14:45, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- Vaughan, Ontario was moved to Vaughan after a 2008 RM, so a discussion would be required to move it back. 162 etc. (talk) 14:53, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- What a Diff'rence a Day Made (currently a redirect to What a Diff'rence a Day Makes) → What a Diff'rence a Day Makes (move · discuss) – error in title, correct name redirects to album currently Hekerui (talk) 17:37, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Hekerui: Probably needs a full RM. According to these recording listings the original English title was as listed, and three out of the five listings still used this title. Someone may want to retarget the album redirect to the song page, though. -2pou (talk) 17:47, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
