Pending changes reviewer

I am well versed in Wikipedia, having mostly spent my time on my native Icelandic Wikipedia where I have a few thousand edits and am an admin. I have a good overall understanding and intuitive feeling of what is appropriate. For an insight into how I act you can read the latter half of Talk:International Ice Hockey Federation. I am applying for this solely because I am editing Belarus-related content heavily these days, especially Alexander Lukashenko (please feel free to weigh in here or here) and am tired of waiting for random editors to approve. --Jabbi (talk) 12:42, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: Jabbi, while I'm not an administrator and therefore can't grant or deny you pending changes permissions, your gripe here seems to be that you're "tired of waiting for random editors to approve [your edits]." Pending changes reviewer permissions have nothing to with not having your own edits approved; rather, it's a tool used to counteract vandalism by new or unregistered users. If your issue is that you don't want to wait the four days to become autoconfirmed and therefore no longer be subject to waiting for pending changes reviewers to approve your edits, I believe your best option is WP:PERM/C, where you can have your account manually confirmed. For interested administrators, this is Jabbi's Icelandic Wikipedia user page, where they are indeed an administrator. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 04:03, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
TheTechnician27 Thanks, I'll cancel this application and go there. No, I think Alexander Lukashenko is semi-protected, I often have to wait for edits to be reviewed. --Jabbi (talk) 00:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Jabbi: I just took a look at Alexander Lukashenko just to make sure, but it's pending changes protected, which would be bypassed if you were manually confirmed. The same would also apply were it semi-protected, however, as semi-protection means an editor who isn't confirmed or autoconfirmed can't edit the article whatsoever. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 01:44, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TheTechnician27:, seems like this wasn't the issue. Would becoming a pending changes reviewer not solve this for me? --Jabbi (talk) 18:28, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Jabbi Pending changes is buggy. This would resolve the issue (you could mark your own revisions as reviewed) but it shouldn't be necessary. Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 08:32, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Elliot321:, thanks for the explanation. Can you give me the rights buggy MediaWiki notwithstanding? --Jabbi (talk) 18:01, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've been editing for quite sometime now, making almost ~1,000 edits in the process. I usually counter IP vandalism and believe that being a pending changes reviewer would be of great help. Thank you. ShelteredCook (talk) 01:39, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

For the last 15 years, I've been an active, careful, and clear editor, creator, and curator of deficient articles. In my opinion, the PCR permission would fit my experience and devotion, and upgrade my abilities and skills significantly. Thank you. — Kochas 21:42, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am requesting this right because I want to review edits made by new or unregistered users on articles that are protected with the pending review. I feel that in most cases, many users who are new or unregistered, edit without adhering to policies set out by Wikipedia. Fizconiz (talk) 00:22, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your interest in this permission. Unfortunately, I'm a bit concerned by some of your editing behavior at Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Ek Baar Phir and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? over the past two months, and thus will be declining your request at this time.  Not done signed, Rosguill talk 18:26, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to enhance my abilities for making more useful contributions to WIkipedia. I'm requesting a PCR privilege as It will help me with reviewing edits made by a user on a protected page and for reverting vandalism, removing unsourced content, etc. I have carefully read and understood all the guidelines related to becoming a PCR and I wish this will further allow me in enhancing my goal as a good editor. My most of editing experience nowadays circulates around deletion protocols like AfD, CSD, PROD. I will be very thankful if given a chance to prove myself.  Not done, blocked for UPE. signed, Rosguill talk 06:06, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to apply for pending changes review permissions. I've been making regular contributions since 2018 with over 5,000 edits, which are often each quite sizable. While most of my work falls under WP:GNOME, I've created or considerably expanded a number of articles and have done some less substantial work at Wiktionary, Wikispecies, Wikivoyage, and Wikisource. More recently, I've also been helping out at the Teahouse and started working as a new page reviewer. I've read the tutorial in full, and I feel like I could help in chipping away at the backlog. (This request was shamelessly self-plagiarized from my NPR request, but my edits are in the public domain, so it's cool.) After editing Sophie (musician), I realized that, even though I was autoconfirmed and extended confirmed user, my edits were pending review. Pending changes protection clearly states: "all users can edit. However, once an unregistered or new editor makes an edit, that edit and any subsequent edits by anyone will remain hidden from "readers" (users not logged in) until the edit made by the unregistered or new editor is reviewed by a pending changes reviewer or admin." So, I would like to have pending changes reviewer to help my work and other articles (Especially recently, I've reverted a lot of vandal edits). nyxærös 19:18, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. @Nyxaros: So, you should be able to submit edits have have them automatically accepted on PC-protected pages, but unfortunately, there is currently a rather frustrating bug with the pending changes software that erroneously holds back edits by autoconfirmed users for review. Regrettably, the reason why I am declining your request at this time is because while I reviewed your edits, I found that you have a tendency to mislabel edits as "vandalism". For example, the following edits are not vandalism: [1] [2][3]. Your edit summary here was also clearly inappropriate. Please be aware that "vandalism" has a very specific meaning within the context of Wikipedia, and you should avoid accusing editors of "vandalism" just because you happen to disagree with their edits. Rather, vandalism implies deliberate intent to harm Wikipedia. The key here is intention. Even if in your opinion an editor has completely ruined an article, it is not vandalism unless the user intended to ruin the article. In cases where it is not obvious whether an editor intended to harm Wikipedia, the guideline is to assume good faith. It is very important to make sure we get this right, especially when reviewing pending changes, because mislabeling edits as vandalism can and does scare newcomers away. Please keep this in mind, and feel free to request this right again after some time. Mz7 (talk) 19:51, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Editors deliberately harmed the articles by adding false information and misrepresenting the sources (some of which was already discussed) in the examples you presented. Congratulations on finding three "weak" ones out of dozens of edits. ภץאคгöร 20:21, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like pending changes reviewer rights for two reasons. First is the obvious purpose of determining and removing vandalism; I plan to be relatively active on Special:PendingChanges. The other reason is that PC seems to be rather buggy and prevents me from directly editing certain articles, as with this edit. The requester above me seems to be having a similar problem, so maybe it's a misconfiguration or something. Cheers, Ovinus (talk) 23:10, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have 200 mainspace edits and have edited Wikipedia for about 2 months now. I want to review articles and make sure constructive edits can get accepted. May I please have the pending changes reviewer right? Thanks. 54nd60x (talk) 00:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. I'm afraid you're still relatively new here. Please feel free to request this right again in a month or so after you gain more experience. As a tip, I recommend leaving an edit summary with every edit that you make, so it is clear what you are changing. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 20:19, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am fighting against vandalism actively and meanwhile I also want to help to clear the pending changes backlog. I'm familiar with Wikipedia guidelines such as WP:RPC. Ahmetlii (talk) 18:45, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mainly for anti-vandalism efforts (while most reverts are accepted by User:DannyS712 bot IV, not all are); I do however plan to review pending changes with this permission. I meet all of the criteria at Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes § Becoming a reviewer, and understand when to accept pending changes. I am currently a rollbacker (also for vandalism) and extended-confirmed. Thank you! — Twassman | Talk | Contribs 00:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,

I'd like to request this permission as I do a lot of recent changes lurking and countervandalism work. I meet all the criteria for reviewer work, and have reviewed the requirements there, and would like to be able to contribute at pending changes as well.

Thanks, BrxBrx(talk)(please reply with {{SUBST:re|BrxBrx}}) 19:13, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'd like to request pending changes reviewer rights as I've been fighting vandalism for a while now, and while I had a rough start things have smoothed out now. I have also ensured that I meet the criteria and that I am ready for this new responsibility. Firestar464 (talk) 05:37, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I am requesting this is because I want to help at pending changes. I see pending changes from 1 - 4 weeks ago and I feel bad that some are not getting read, so I decided to request. I have read the policies and guidelines as well. 🌀Aegeou2🌀← talk 17:06, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
