Zoi Lygerou is a Greek associate professor of biology at the Medical School University of Patras whose works have been published in such journals as the European Journal of Biochemistry, Journal of Cell Science, the Molecular and Cellular Biology journal, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and both Science and Nature journals among others.[1] In 1991 she got her first degree at the University of Athens followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg four years later. She also used to be a postdoc at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund of London under guidance from Paul Nurse.[2] On April 12, 1996 she and her colleagues (along with David Tollervey) have discovered that the minimum amount of enzymes are required for the eukaryotes' ribosomal RNA.[3]
