Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Eleusis, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:33, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Eleusis has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. This is your final warning. Further copyright violations will result in you being blocked from editing.Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:50, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Information icon Hello, I'm Jingiby. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Please sign your talk page posts

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:28, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free image use

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Greece, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:13, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've explained the problem of using non-free images in the "Greece" article in my response to you at User talk:JJMC89#Greece. If you have any questions about this please ask, but please try to be a little more careful when using non-free content. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:16, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Too many images in articles

Hello. I've started a discussion on the talk page for the Greece article regarding your edits to the page, which have flooded the article with images. You can find the discussion here. I look forward to hearing from you on there. Additionally, please do not revert the Thessaloniki article. It was neat and tidy, if you would like to add/alter significant aspects of it (including adding images), please start a discussion on the talk page first. Thanks. --Philly boy92 (talk) 00:22, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thessaloniki

Hi, just to remind you, you already started a discussion on Talk:Thessaloniki regarding the images, and your revert your revert is arguably a violation of WP:3RR. Your earlier reverts were earlier today and on 29 August. When you reverted, you also removed my cleanup of the article images, adding in unnecessary images to the article. I suggest you take a look at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images, Wikipedia:Image use policy, and Wikipedia:Images, in particular the sections about images needing to contribute something substantial to the article. Images like this, this, this, this and this contribute nothing. There are 5 images in the Geology section, a section of just 500 words, one of which is irrelevant to the section (the white tower), while another is of exceptionally low quality. Your substitution of Cassander is a good one, go ahead and add that in. Your substitution of Aretsou Marina with the Port Authority is plain wrong, since it's in the section of Southwest Thessaloniki and the Port Authority is in the northwest. When I said images pile up, I mean there are many of them in the article and they pile up on the side and well as create sandwiching. You reverting my cleanup reinstated this problem. I'm reverting it again, and please continue this on Talk:Thessaloniki. I'm fine with you adding in this but I fail to see how all the other images are helpful. Wikipedia is not a repository of images, wikimedia commons is. --Michail (blah) 17:59, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

'Well I did not add those images nor add the 5 images in the geology section. It seems there is a misunderstanding i just changed already existing ones. The port authority image was placed at the city center section if you watch my revertion.I did not add any image at all.Thank you. AlbusTheWhite (talk) 18:21, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but this revert added in images which I had previously removed on the grounds of Wikipedia rules vis-a-vis images in articles. When you reverted, you didn't just reinstate your substitutions, but also my removals. I admit on a second look your Port Authority addition was in the city-centre section [you removed the marina from the southwest section], but the section is too small for two images, and the Port Authority has another image in the economy section, where it is more relevant. I've put your Cassander image back in, but have removed the Port and the Aretsou Marina. There were 2 images of stadiums - why? They pile up and force the table immediately below to resize. The Modiano Market image was of very low quality and contributed nothing to the article. The image of the Hamam I have left in, but it should ideally be removed per WP:SANDWICH. --Michail (blah) 18:33, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dishonest edit summaries

Here [1], you did much, much more than what you stated in your edit-summary. Same thing here [2]. It's not cool to try and deceive your fellow editors. Some of us have been editing for a very long time - you're not going to fool us with such κουτοπονηριά. Don't do it again. Khirurg (talk) 19:13, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I did not deceive anyone I did what I had stated.I do not know what I did wrong. You on the other hand are very rude and should learn some manners AlbusTheWhite (talk) 19:43, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to comment the same thing: In this edit, your edit summary says changed entry of Otto to expulsion, since his exit made more of an impact and reflects better his role, but in reality you additionally changed five other pictures, removed one and added four (despite that the general consensus seems to be to reduse the number of pictures). In this edit, you claim to have deleted image of athens circa 1900 in summer olympics section. Yes, but you also changed three other picures, removed two and added two. Such edit summaries are deceptive. And Khirurg: Thanks for adding a new Greek word to my vocabulary. Might be useful! --T*U (talk) 09:16, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well it is obvious that I couldn't mention specificaly everyone of those additions in an edit summary. Also the images were added to galleries that developed no problem to the page.Khirurg and TU-nor you two need to learn what is behaving nicely because insulting me and saying words such as κουτοπονηριά (in Greek making it more offensive since it is not widely understood).I pity both of you and hope that you continue your life without bullying any other new editor you find.Thank you AlbusTheWhite (talk) 09:30, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The point is that the edit summary should give a fair representation of the what and/or why of the edit. Your edit summary here is exemplary. If your explanation is too long for the edit summary, you can write in the talk page and write "See talk page" in the edit summary. In fact, since you know that the pictures of the article is an issue, you should make more use of the talk page, preferably before your edits, to make sure you have consensus for your edits. --T*U (talk) 11:28, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Stavros Xarchakos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Greek (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Editing of images in Thessaloniki

Hi. Please stop changing the images of various Greece-related articles without any real reason to do so. You [ recently changed a picture] on the article of Thessaloniki, which showed the redeveloped waterfront, replacing it with an insignificant image of the umbrellas statue. To begin with, the statue is probably not free to be photographed - there is no freedom of panorama in Greece, and the artist died in 2004. You need to wait until 2074 until his copyright expires. The major issue with the addition, however, is that it replaced a relevant picture (the redeveloped waterfront) with an irrelevant one (the umbrellas have been there since the 90s). This was in the section for the centennial revitalisation project. Also, I have pointed out numerous times the Wikipedia policy regarding WP:SANDWICHING. The addition of that image created a sandwiching effect. I've nominated the article for GA status and it will need a thorough clean-up, so please familiarise yourslf with the Manual of Style, especially regarding pictures if that is your area of interest. --Michail (blah) 00:45, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Using proper citations

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Charalambos Bouras. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the claims (see here for how to do inline referencing). Thanks! P.S. If you need further help, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse, or just ask me. Correct citations use one of the relevant citation templates, such as template:cite web or template:cite book; make sure you fill in all the fields for which you have information, and not simply the URL and title. You may find Wikipedia:ProveIt to be a useful tool, it has an auto-fill from URL function (you might still need to edit it to make sure it appears correctly).

Your recent contributions at Greece appear to show that you are engaged in edit warring; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not override another editor's contributions. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
