U Turn is an upcoming Indian thriller film written and directed by Pawan Kumar. Filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages, it is a remake of his own 2016 Kannada film of the same name. The bilingual stars Samantha Akkineni, Aadhi Pinisetty, Rahul Ravindran and Bhumika Chawla. It is scheduled to be released on 13 September 2018.

Plot

An intern at The Times of India is working on an article regarding accidents which occurred at a flyover, at which point she discovers something far more mysterious.[1]

U Turn is a remake of the 2016 Kannada film of the same name. It was filmed simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages, to bank on the popularity of lead actress Samantha Akkineni in the Telugu and Tamil film industries.[3] Pawan Kumar, who directed the original, returned to direct the bilingual remake,[4] marking his debut in Telugu and Tamil.[5] He also made the last 30 minutes different from the Kannada original.[6] The remake was produced by Srinivasa Chitturi and Rambabu Bandaru under the banners BR8 Creations, V. Y. Combines and Srinivasa Silver Screen.[7][8] Cinematography was handled by Niketh Bommireddy,[9] and editing by Suresh Arumugam.[8] Filming began in February 2018 at Rajahmundry,[10] and ended in June.[1]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack of the film was composed by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi.[9] The audio launch for the Tamil version took place on 31 August 2018.[11][12] The song "The Karma Theme", composed and sung by Anirudh Ravichander with Alisha Thomas on backing vocals, was released on 3 September 2018 as a promotional song for the film. Its music video, directed by Krishna Marimuthu, is picturised on Samantha dancing, with Anirudh also appearing.[13][14] The song was released in both Tamil and Telugu languages.[15] As it is a promotional song, it will not be featured in the film itself.[16]

Release

U Turn is scheduled to be released on 13 September 2018,[4] during Ganesh Chaturthi.[17]
