Ip Man arrives at Seattle to work with his pupil Bruce Lee, who has decided to open a Wing Chun school.[1]

On 30 September 2016, Donnie Yen (who portrayed the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in three films) announced that he and series director Wilson Yip would return for the fourth film in the series.[2] Producer Raymond Wong said he paid Yen "a hefty amount of money" to return for the fourth film.[3] Principal photography began in April 2018,[4] and British actor Scott Adkins joined the following month.[1]
