Doreen Sibanda


Doreen Sibanda is a notable Artist, Curator and Arts Administrator in Zimbabwe. She is currently the Executive Director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe.[1]

Background

Born in the United Kingdom to Jamaican parents, her passion for Art existed long before she became an administrator or an artist however her parents were against it seeing her opt for a career in Education as an Art Teacher. Doreen is married to Dr Misheck Sibanda[2]

Career

A well travelled Artist Doreen's whose work has been exhibited in a number of different countries such as the Czech Republic, Russia and Zimbabwe. This led her move to Zimbabwe in 1981 -1988 assuming an Administrative Role at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe then from 2004 to present. Doreen has authored a number of books[3] including teaching materials.
