Graduate of Theology (ThG) is an undergraduate degree in theological disciplines offered by some accredited and unaccredited schools. Although the definition varies by institution, it is often a 3-year course of study.[1][2][3]

The ThG has in the past been used as a perfunctory way to confer a degree to someone who has no other post-high-school certification. In the 1940s, Western Bible College in Canada in association with Central University (now University of Indianapolis) arranged for attendees to obtain a ThG with no extra work beyond a high school diploma.[4]

The ThG degree should not be confused with postgraduate degrees in theology such as Master of Divinity.

Notable recipients

Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell's earned degree was a ThG from then-unaccredited Baptist Bible College in Missouri.[5]
