Niko Klansek (born February 20, 1984) is a Slovenian-born entrepreneur, advisor, investor and the president of Slovenian basketball club KD Slovan.
He has been involved in the business since a young age. In his twenties, he founded and later sold two start-up companies, E4B [1] and FlyKly.[2] He has helped many startups with crowdfunding and business development. In 2017, he became the president of Slovenian basketball club KD Slovan. He is currently consulting on blockchain based companies.
Early life and education
Klansek was born on February 20, 1984, in Kranj, Slovenia, the son of Lucia Lucka Klansek, entrepreneur and philanthropist, and Marko Badovinac, entrepreneur and former DJ.
Klansek began his basketball career with the youth branch of Slovenian basketball club KD Slovan which is considered as a club for developing top basketball prospects from Slovenia.[3] Next he joined the youth branch of the most dominant Slovenian basketball club KK Olimpija. Together with Beno Udrih, Erazem Lorbek, Domen Lorbek, Saša Zagorac, he helped his team won several national championships between 1998 and 2001. While playing for Bezigrad Grammar School basketball team he helped school team won 3 consecutive national basketball high school championships between 2000 and 2002 and won International School Sport Federation basketball championship of high schools in Turkey in 2001.
Klansek moved to California in 2002 to continue playing basketball. He finished South Tahoe High School and in 2004 he moved to New York and enrolled at Fordham University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. In 2016, Klansek completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School and became Harvard Business School Alumni.

[5] The FlyKly Smart Wheel was successfully launched on Kickstarter in October 2013 and is the most successful Kickstarter project coming from Slovenia to this date.[6]
After FlyKly, Klansek focused more on startup advising and crowdfunding.[7] With the crowdfunding meetups, he created the largest crowdfunding community in Slovenia and organized awards for best crowdfunding projects in Slovenia in 2017. [8] In 2016, he became a consultant for the national daily newspaper Delo, helping to set up and run Startup Studio, an early stage investment fund focusing on tech startups.[9] Klansek currently works as an advisor to a blockchain based companies and consults on many blockchain based technology projects. In 2017 he became the president of Slovenian basketball club KD Slovan.[10]
