Education
János Csák holds an MSc in Finance and Sociology, Corvinus University (Hungary, 1987), and completed the Challenge of Leadership Program, INSEAD (France, 2000) and the Executive Program, at the University of Michigan Business School (USA, 1996).
Career
János Csák, head of Project ConNext 2050 at the Social Futuring Center, Corvinus University of Budapest. He is an honorary professor of management, corporate leader and former Ambassador.
During his career he worked in executive positions and as a board member for several companies in Europe, the USA and Australia including MOL Group (chairman), T-Mobile Hungary (chairman), and Creditanstalt Investment Bank (CA-IB), Budapest Bank, Falcon Oil and Gas, Wildhorse Energy Ltd. He worked as treasurer of Matáv (now Magyar Telekom) and managed the process to list the company on the New York Stock Exchange in 1997. In 1996 he was a Senior Treasury Advisor at Ameritech Corporation (Chicago, USA). He was a visiting fellow in political economy at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC in 2009-10, and served as Hungary’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom between 2011-14.
Currently he serves on the board of Gedeon Richter Plc. and Bank of China (Hungary) Ltd. as non-executive director. Since 2016 he is the Chairman of Design Terminal, a non-profit incubator, Chairman of Arete Ltd., a start-up fund, and majority owner of Brain Bar Budapest, a major European festival on the future.
Awards
In recognition of his economic and social activities he was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary in 2010. He was conferred the Honorary Citizenship of the 20. district of Budapest (2013), and the Knight Grand Cross of Merit of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George (UK, 2013).
