Nimir (Stand Head High / Stand Up to Someone) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language comedy-drama film directed by Priyadarshan and starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Namitha Pramod, and Parvatii Nair. In June 2017, it was announced that the 2016 Malayalam film Maheshinte Prathikaaram would be remade in Tamil with Priyadarshan as director and Udhayanidhi Stalin as the male lead.[1] Priyadarshan made changes to the script and screenplay to suit the cultural and regional tastes of Tamil audiences. Samuthirakani penned the dialogues and also plays the role of the antagonist. The title "Nimir" was suggested by J. Mahendran who plays Udhayanidhi's father in the film.[2][3] The title was accepted and acknowledged by Priyadarshan. The film is produced by Santhosh T. Kuruvilla under his banner Moonshot Entertainment.[2]

S. Bhaskar plays a prominent full length supporting character in the film.[8] Theatre artist and activist Maala Parvathi plays a short length guest role in the film.[9] N. K. Ekambaram has handled the cinematography. The film in its entirety was shot in Tenkasi except for a short bit in Dubai.[2][10]

Music

The music of the film is composed by Darbuka Siva and B. Ajaneesh Loknath, while Vairamuthu, Thamarai and A. Mohanraju have penned the lyrics.[2] The song "Nenjil Maamazhai" was released as a single on 19 December 2017.[11]

Release

Nimir is scheduled to be released on 26 January 2018,[12] and will be distributed by Udhayanidhi's company Red Giant Movies.[8]
