Biography

Evans originally wanted to become a vet, but found her vocation in singing [1]. Evans appeared extensively as a junior choristor and then soloist with many Choral Societies across the West country. During her A levels, she began colabortaing with composer Sean O'Leary, and the two have worked together ever since [2] Evans graduated from Bath Spa University with a BA(Hons) Music Degree in 2001, followed by a Vocal Diploma at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2002. Evans is presently studying with Judith Sheridan.

After graduation, Evans became a freelance singer and vocal coach, with engagements taking her across the UK and abroad to Denmark and South Africa. In 2003 she found fame by singing the national athem before every England game at the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup in Australia [3] Evans made her professional operatic début as Pamina in Opera by Definition's production of "Die Zauberflöte" (the Magic Flute) in 2004 [4] Evans he was second prize-winner at both the Great Elm Vocal Awards, adjudicated by Dame Joan Sutherland, and the St. John’s Solo Singing Competition, London. Evans also sang at the BBC Sports Personality 50th Programme and at Wembley Arena. She sang the role of Alison for Minotaur Music Theatre’s production of Holst’s Chamber Opera The Wandering Scholar and was Fiordiligi for a six month tour in the Skipton Camerata’s production of "Così fan Tutte".

How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?

She made it down to the final ten girls, but was voted out in week two after David Ian said that Evans was the best singer but that she was: "a throw-back to the 1930s" - the eventual winner was Connie Fisher. However, like fellow contestant Simona Armstrong, Evans was picked up by Webber and Ian to join other London productions, and will shortly make her Westend debut in "The Phantom of the Opera"

Evans lives with her family near in Ash, near Yeovil, Somerset [5] She has two older sisters and a youn ger brother, and runs three miles a day to keep fit [6]
