Dashnami Hereditary Surnames are Hindu, Sannyasa surnames used by hereditary descendants of Dashnami Renunciate sanyashis.These surnames are only taken by the those children who were born after there father's renunciation. These surnames are common in Nepal and India.
Origin
Dashnami Hereditary Surname holders are descendants of Dashnami Renunciate sanyashis. As Dashanami Sampradaya is monastic tradition of "single-staff renunciation" (ēkadaṇḍisannyāsi)[1][2][3]hence it does not permit marriage after renunciation so they are considered to be illegitimate in that sense. By the course of time they gained high rank socially as they took cooked food from the higher castes, but were still consider lower cast in religious sense as they were still considered offsprings of illegitimate sanyasi.
