TwickFolk (previously known as Twickenham Folk Club) is an acoustic music club in Twickenham, south-west London. Established in January 1983,[1][2] and now one of the best known and most highly respected folk clubs in the South East of England,[3] it is run, not for profit, by a small group of volunteers.[2]

TwickFolk organises gigs on Sunday evenings, usually at the Cabbage Patch pub in London Road, Twickenham,[4] featuring British and North American acoustic folk and roots-based music. The evening usually consists of a main "guest" preceded by a support act or several floor spots.

Guests who have appeared at TwickFolk include Nels Andrews,[5] Sally Barker,[6] Ben Bedford,[7][8] Maggie Boyle and Paul Downes,[9] Sunjay Brayne,[10] Chuck Brodsky,[11] The Carrivick Sisters,[12] Olivia Chaney,[13][14] Cathryn Craig and Brian Willoughby,[15] Kris Drever,[16] Carrie Elkin,[17] Dave Ellis and Boo Howard,[18] Mark Erelli,[19] Stephen Fearing,[20][21] Dick Gaughan,[22] Grand Union,[23][24] Melissa Greener,[25] Tim Grimm,[26] Jack Harris,[27] Hatful of Rain,[28] Fabian Holland,[29] Jacquelyn Hynes,[30] Luke Jackson,[31] Jeni and Billy,[32][33] Diana Jones,[34] Martin Karran and Sara O'Keeffe,[35] Will Kaufman,[36] Lau,[4] Kelley McRae,[37][38] Madison Violet,[39] Emily Maguire,[40] Flossie Malavialle,[41] Iain Matthews,[42] Jim Moray,[43] Jess Morgan,[44] Pete Morton,[45] Linde Nijland,[46] Maz O'Connor,[47] Earl Okin,[48] Ellis Paul,[49] Rod Picott,[50] Rebecca Pronsky,[51] Kim Richey,[52] Justin Rutledge,[53] Liz Simcock,[54] Stephen Simmons,[13][55] Soiree,[56][57] Southern Tenant Folk Union,[58] Miranda Sykes and Reg Preston,[59] Kath Tait,[13][60]Greg Trooper,[61] Kevin Welch,[62] Dan Wilde,[44] Winter Wilson[63][64] and Chris Wood.[65]

Occasionally TwickFolk organises singers' nights. These consist of either several performed floor spots or an unplugged singaround where everyone sits around a table and those who want to sing or play an instrument can take turns to do so.[66]

TwickFolk has also organised workshops on building a slide box guitar[67] and on playing guitar[68] and nyckelharpa.[69]

In December 2008 TwickFolk hosted an afternoon event, featuring Scottish singer Karine Polwart, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to raise awareness of and funds for Amnesty International.[70] TwickFolk has also held charity nights benefiting the British Heart Foundation, Children in Need and local charities.[1][2]

Noel Murphy's 1997 CD A Session was recorded live in a folk session at the Cabbage Patch pub.[71]
