The Asramam Link Road is one of the important city roads of Kollam.[1] It starts from Kappalandimukku near Polayathode in the East and ends at Thoppilkadavu in the West of the city.[2][3] It is one among the important four-lane roads in the city. Kollam is a rare city in Kerala because of the presence of 3 traffic black spots in the city. They are Polayathode-Thattamala, Anchalumoodu & Kottiyam.[5] So the demand for a new road through the outer side of Downtown Kollam to avoid the complex Chinnakada junction got intensified.[6] Kollam Bypass project is the most neglected bypass project in the state. 9 km stretch of this project is still remaining. This link road is now serving the city as a Mini bypass, by avoiding the heavy rush in Chinnakada junction. Kollam Development Authority had approved Rs. 1.6 Crores for the project's Phase-I.
